New Surface Tablet, Lumia Phones Expected To Launch In October 6 Event
Microsoft has sent out invitations on Monday for an event on Oct. 6, where it is expected to unveil new devices that run on Windows 10, its latest operating system. "We have some exciting news to share about Windows 10 devices," reads the teaser to an invitation sent to reporters to attend an event in New York City.
Microsoft is expected to unveil devices such as the Surface Pro 4 tablet, the Microsoft Band 2 wearable fitness tracker and the latest Lumia smartphones at the event.
Microsoft shipped the Surface Pro 3 more than a year ago, and both tablets combined have contributed significantly to Microsoft’s device revenue.
Microsoft is expected to launch two new flagship phones, dubbed 'Talkman' and 'Cityman' at the launch, in a bid to catch up with the Apple iPhone 6s and flagship phones running the Android operating system.
Microsoft launched Windows 10 in July. The new OS, designed to work across laptops, desktops and smartphones, is part of the company's push to win back lost ground in tablets and mobiles.
