Nvidia has released the Android-based SHIELD handheld game console and the first teardown of the device unveils its internal components. SHIELD is powered by an Nvidia Tegra 4 Quad Core Mobile Processor, it has a 5-inch 1280x720 pixel Multi-Touch, Retina-quality display (294 ppi), it packs 16 GB Flash Memory with microSD slot, 2 GB RAM, it has 802.11n 2x2 Mimo Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity and finally, it runs on the Android Jelly Bean operating system.

For those interested in what's under the hood, a teardown amalysis performed by iFixit.com revealed the following basic components and chips:

- a three-cell, 3.7V, 7350mAh, rechargeable lithium-ion battery labeled 131907887;
- Samsung KLMAG2GE2A memory eMMC
- AzureWave AW-AH691 wireless module
- SK Hynix H5TC4G63AFR 512 MB DDR3 SDRAM (4 ICs for 2 GB total RAM)
- InvenSense MPU-6050 6-axis gyroscope and accelerometer
- Realtek AL5639 (probably similar to AL5634) audio microcontroller
