Panasonic Announces Optodisc DVD-RAM Media Support for Panasonic DVDBurner, Recorders, Camcorders
Panasonic announced today that Optodisc is shipping a complete line of DVD-RAM media that can be used with Panasonic 4.7/9.4GB DVD-RAM drives and the new Panasonic combination DVD-RAM/R DVDBurner(TM), as well as Panasonic's new, second-generation model DMR-E20 DVD Video recorder and VDR-M10 DVD Camcorder. Optodisc will showcase the random access capabilities of its Certified Plus DVD-RAM media for data storage and video editing applications during PC Expo this week in New York City at the DVD Pavilion, Booth No. 3822.
Optodisc Certified Plus media is fully compliant with the DVD Forum's DVD-RAM specifications. As its name indicates, the quality of Optodisc media is tested and certified before shipping. In addition, Optodisc media is delivered fully formatted and ready to use.
The complete line of Optodisc DVD-RAM media includes 4.7GB bare disc media, 4.7GB removable-cartridge media and double-sided 9.4GB discs protected by a cartridge. Optodisc will also be unveiling its new 8cm rewritable DVD media specifically developed for DVD-RAM camcorders such as Panasonic's new Model VDR-M10. The 8cm format provides all of the features of the 12cm media but the capacity is 1.46GB.
"Optodisc is committed to meeting the growing demand for rewritable DVD discs that provide an exceptionally high degree of stability and archival integrity," said Jerry Wang, Vice Chairman of Optodisc Technology Company. "We have ramped up our manufacturing capabilities to produce 1 million DVD RAM discs this year and will expand production to 10 to 15 million in 2002."
Optodisc Certified Plus DVD-RAM media is available through authorized resellers worldwide. The list prices are US$29.99 for the 4.7GB/Cartridge media and US$24.99 for the 4.7GB/Jewel Case. The list price for the 9.4GB/Cartridge media is US$39.99 and US$34.99 for the 9.4GB/Jewel Case media. All jewel case packages have bare disc media.
