Samsung Galaxy S2 Smartphone Coming In the U.S. Next month

Samsung will release its flagship Galaxy S2 smartphone in the U.S. market next month, aiming at the forthcoming iPhone. The company also today made its 10.1" Galaxy Tab tablet in S. Korea. Shin Jong-kyun, president of Samsung's mobile business and digital imaging, said that the Galaxy S2 smartphone will reach the the U.S. market sometime in August. The device, which is already available in South Korea, Japan and Europe, and in Europe has recorded sales of 3 million units in less than two months of its debut.

The Galaxy S2 is a faster, thinner and lighter version of its Galaxy S. The device is expected to face competition from rival Apple's new iPhone, which is widely expected to be released in September.

The Samsung GALAXY S II (Model: GT-I9100) is athin (8.49mm) and lightweight, dual-core (1.2GHz) smartphone that combines a Super AMOLED Plus (800 x 480) viewing experience with high performance, all on Android operating system. The smartphone also includes exclusive access to Samsung's four new content and entertainment hubs integrated to provide instant access to music, games, e-reading and social networking services. Other features include an 8Mpix Camera with AF and Touch Focus on the back and a 2Mpix one on the front, 512MB of RAM and 16GB of Internal Memory, AGPS, Digital Compact, Gyrometer, Accelerometer, Proximity Senor and Ambient Light Sensor.

For wireless communications, the Wi-Fi (802.11 a/b/g/n) and Bluetooth 3.0 can be quite handy. The Galaxy S 2 will also support HSPA+ .

The smartphone comes with Full HD video recoding at 30fps as well as Video Zoom and support MP4, 3GP, DivX, XviD and Streaming video.

Samsung also launched a new version of its Galaxy Tab in South Korea on Wednesday, hoping to lure consumers away from Apple's iPad. The 10.1" tablet is already available in the U.S. market.

The Galaxy Tab tablet is optimized for multimedia consumption and Web browsing. It is also thiner than Apple's iPad 2 and weighs less. The tablet is powered by a 1-gigahertz dual core processor. However, Galaxy Tab has access to more than 200,000 applications compared with over 425,000 applications from the Apple App store. To cope with such shortcomings, Samsung equipped its Korean version with access to television and radio channels.

The Galaxy Tab 10.1 is the second tablet PC for Samsung, which introduced the 7-inch Galaxy Tab in October of last year.
