It is not the first time the Korean giant says that it could release an HD DVD /Blu-Ray player, and after last week's CES in Las Vegas, the possibilities are higher. Samsung showcased its BD-1000 Blu-Ray player at CES last week, and it is expected to which is expected to be available for around US $1,000 in the springtime. HDMI output is included, and the player will be backwards compatible with most of today's standard DVD formats (DVD-RAM, DVD-RW, DVD-R, DVD+RW, and DVD+R). The device is "powered" by a Sony Blu-Ray chipset. As for the BD Pick-up unit, it currently uses a dual-laser set, in order to be backward compatible with red laser media.

At CES, Samsung said that it has the sufficient resources to additionally support it in the near future. Such a project would be the solution everybody needs, in order to avoid the confusion of different formats .
