Samsung Electronics is launching the 49-inch CRG9 5K gaming monitor in its home country.

Announced earlier this year at CES 2019, the 'CRG9' model offers a 'dual QHD' resolution (5120×1440), a 1000 nits peak brightness, 178º/178º vertical/horizontal viewing angles, a 4 ms response time, and a 120 Hz refresh rate. The CRG9’s 5120 x 1440 Dual QHD display is equivalent in size to two 27-inch QHD monitors placed side

Just like the company's previous-gen 49-incher, the new CRG9 curved display (1800R) is LED backlighting enhanced with quantum dots that enable support for the DCI-P3 color space (as well as larger-than-sRGB gamut) and the HDR-focused AMD’s FreeSync 2. The monitor fully supports HDR10. Users can select Multiple game modes to optimize settings like contrast ratio, definition and color based on the type of game they are playing. In addition, the 'Virtual Aim Point' onscreen crosshairs and target enemies more accurately while playing first person shooting games. The monitor’s Eye Saver mode and Flicker Free technology minimize blue light emissions and screen flickering, allowing longer and more comfortable gaming sesions.

The CRG9 features one HDMI port and two display ports, as well as USB 3.0 and headphone connections.

In addition, the monitor features Picture-by-Picture (PBP) functionality that is optimized for multitasking by dividing the signal from two different devices, such as notebooks and desktops.

The global gaming monitor market is expected to grow by an average of 14.8% per year over the next five years, with shipments of more than 20 million units in 2023 and over $ 2.7 billion.

The 'CRG9' is priced at 1,490,000 won ($1,310). It will be also available overseas on 22 April 2019.
