Some New HTC Phones Sales Delayed Due to Customs Review

Some New HTC Phones Sales Delayed Due to Customs Review

Smartphones May 16,2012 0

HTC is feeling some effects from its patents war with Apple. The U.S. sales of the One X and the EVO 4G LTE new smartphones from HTC will be delayed due to a patent dispute with Apple. The U.S. Customs service will review the imports of the two devices in the U.S. guided by an exclusionary order issued in December by the U.S. International Trade Commission, which found that certain HTC phones infringed Apple patents on the formatting of data in unstructured documents. The ITC delayed the effectiveness of the order until April 19 to give HTC time to remove the offending features from the phone.

HTC said in a statement on Wednesday that "the U.S. availability of the HTC One X and HTC EVO 4G LTE has been delayed due to a standard U.S. Customs review of shipments that is required after an ITC (International Trade Commission) exclusion order".

HTC has said that it has a workaround in its new phones but still, the shipments still require inspection by the customs.

The HTC One X model will be available by AT&T and the EVO 4G LTE by Sprint.
