Sony Ends PSX Production
Things are looking bleak for Sony's PlayStation2 / DVD Recorder hybrid, the PSX, with news that the electronics giant is to end production.
The PSX has had a troubled life and this isn't the first time its imminent demise has been predicted, but more recent news had looked positive after a sales increase.
There have been four versions of the PSX, with the Japanese consumer only taking to the device after prices were slashed before the introduction of more recent models, the DESR-7500 and the DESR-5500.
The PSX may yet rise from the ashes, but don't hold your breath. Of course, if you don't live in Japan you'll never have seen one anyway. Sony's failure to market the device elsewhere in the world is perhaps indicative of their lack of confidence in the PSX.
