OCZ Unveils First Intel Extreme Memory Modules

OCZ Unveils First Intel Extreme Memory Modules

PC components Sep 11,2007 0

OCZ Technology Group today announced production of the industry’s first Intel Extreme Memory modules, a new memory solution optimized for the impending Intel X38 chipset. Designed to increase performance levels of the entire platform, these modules feature Intel Extreme Memory Profiles (XMP), an exclusive set of SPD (Serial Presence Detect) settings that act as an integrated "plug and play" overclocking tool.

"The new Extreme Memory Profile options on the new OCZ DDR3 modules allow the end user to select extreme or ultimate performance through a framework of predefined and validated optimizations of individual settings without the hassle of manually adjusting each single parameter. Moreover, the predefined settings also adjust parameters that are not accessible to the user in most CMOS setup utilities. What this means for consumers is easy overclocking on Intel platforms right out of the box," commented Dr. Michael Schuette, VP of Technology Development at OCZ Technology.

Configured to Intel’s defined specification, the XMP-Ready memory will be available as OCZ DDR3 PC3-12800 1GB (1024MB) Modules and are configured to run 8-8-8 latencies. Furthermore, each OCZ XMP module also features 7-6-6 latencies on a second profile that is qualified by OCZ for the extreme enthusiast.
