Intel's 8-core Skultrail platform for entusiasts has been rportedly overclocked at 6GHz, confirming that dual-socket configurations offer overclocking headroom. Enthusisats over the http://www.xtremesystems.org forums have managed to overclock all eight cores of the Skulltrail at 6006 MHz, which results to a total of 48 GHz of massive processing power.

Intel's Skulltrail gaming platform can take advantage of two quad-core Core 2 Extreme QX9775 processors, each clocked at 3.2 GHz, according to Intel. The CPUs come with 12 MB L2 cache.

We should mention here that a fully configured Skulltrail system would cost more than $10,000. This would include the D5400XS board, two QX9775 CPUs, a 1000 watt power supply, 4 GB of memory, and two fast graphics cards for multi-GPu configurations.
