Samsung's Recall For The Galaxy Note 7 Smartphones In Official In The U.S.

Smartphones Sep 15,2016 0

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) today confirmed that Samsung Electronics will recall Galaxy Note 7 smartphones due to serious fire and burn hazards. The CPSC said on Thursday that Samsung had received 92 reports of the batteries overheating in the United States, including 26 reports of burns and 55 reports of property damage.

Consumers should immediately power down and stop using the recalled Galaxy Note 7 devices, the agency said. They should also contact the wireless carrier, retail outlet or Samsung.com where they purchased their device to receive free of charge a new Galaxy Note7 with a different battery, a refund or a new replacement device.

Earlier this month, Samsung said it would recall all Galaxy Note 7 smartphones and halted their sales in 10 markets.

The CPSC said that the affected 1 million Galaxy Note7 smartphones were sold prior to September 15, 2016.
