Microsoft's Nadella Hints On A Possible Surface Phone

Microsoft's Nadella Hints On A Possible Surface Phone

Smartphones May 8,2017 0

Once again Microsoft is teasing its new Surface Phone hardware, with the company's CEO to talk about new phones that "will not look like phones that are there today."

Previously CEO Satya Nadella declared that 2017 would see Microsoft launch the ultimate mobile device: "We will continue to be in the phone market not as defined by today's market leaders, but by what it is that we can uniquely do in what is the most ultimate mobile device." Now Nadella talked to Molly Wood about a range of topics and stated that "when you say we'll make more phones, I'm sure we'll make more phones, but they will not look like phones that are there today."

From the Surface Studio and the exquisite Surface Book, to the Surface Pro and new Surface Laptop machines, Microsoft has taken a basic design pattern and reimagined what can be achieved with a new approach.

The Surface Laptop challenges the MacBook and MacBook Air machines directly on price. This approach could be followed by Microsoft's designers in order to crate the Surface Phone concept.

Microsoft's Hololens is a standalone computer designed to be work and operated hands free. The device is not a phone, but it can make calls, access the internet, and run third-party applications. Of course, a Surface Phone concept could also add to the mix AR, flexible displays, and other ideas coming from Microsoft's research labs.

Microsoft has announced an event for May 23rd but don't expect to see a Windows 10-powered smartphone there. This should appear sometime before the end of the year.
