Microsoft, the creator of the Internet Explorer web browser and office 2019 suite, is warning Windows users off from using thses profucts, saying that they offer less than competition.

Microsoft's Edge browser is the default web browser of Windows 10 but the OS still ships with Internet Explorer 11. Provided that legacy systems could make Internet Explorer 11 the default, Microsoft says that Internet Explorer 11 isn't being updated to support new Web technology, existing only as a compatibility tool to access legacy "designed for Internet Explorer" content that simply won't work properly in any other browser.

"You see, Internet Explorer is a compatibility solution. We’re not supporting new web standards for it and, while many sites work fine, developers by and large just aren’t testing for Internet Explorer these days. They’re testing on modern browsers... As new apps are coming out with greater frequency, what we want to help you do is avoid having to miss out on a progressively larger portion of the web," Chris Jackson, a Principal Program Manager in Microsoft's Experiences and Devices Group wrote in a blog post. He added that
Internet Explorer 11 is slower and less secure that other web browsers.

Microsoft also suggest users opt for the subscription-based Office 365 instead of the licensed Office 2019.

That's because the Office 365 version contains a number of cloud-based features that aren't found in 2019, such as machine learning-driven drawing and handwriting recognition, integration with LinkedIn, a range of live data sources for Excel, and so on.
