CyberLink showcases new applications at Computex 2004

CyberLink showcases new applications at Computex 2004

General Interest May 25,2004 0

CyberLink will demonstrate new technologies supporting next-generation DVD Audio, CPRM and double-layer formats, plus three additional applications, at Computex, Taipei. New applications at a glance:

-- PowerBackup
PowerBackup is a practical tool for protecting essential data. It offers a step-by-step approach to saving data onto a disc, a local hard drive, or a network.

-- PhotoNow!
PhotoNow! turns captured mishaps into satisfying records of photos.

-- PowerDVD Copy
PowerDVD Copy is a specialized tool for video content backup from a DVD.

New Technologies Being Showcased at Computex 2004

-- DVD Audio Playback
While the current mainstream 2 channel audio track CD is dominating the market, the 5.1 channel DVD audio, a next generation high-definition audio format, has just been announced and is expected to become widely used quickly. To meet the demand for exceptional audio quality, CyberLink is developing DVD Audio Playback, an audio option for PowerDVD, which will support the 5.1 channel DVD audio playback. This product is scheduled to release later this year

-- PowerDVD CPRM
A current PowerDVD option, PowerDVD CPRM provides Content Protection for Recordable Media (CPRM). This hardware technology enforces "copy-once only" restrictions. This product is the world's first DVD software to support Content Protection for Recordable Media (CPRM) on the PC. Users will now be able to watch their CPRM-standard discs on their computers using PowerDVD.

-- Double-layer Recording Technology
Both Power2Go and PowerProducer 2 Gold now support recording up to 8.5 GB of video and data on one double-layer disc. At Computex, CyberLink will introduce adoption of double-layer technology in video burning from digital video, camcorder, TV or VCR formats directly onto a DVD.

-- DVD-Video logo for PC Authoring
The "PC DVD authoring software verification" program held by DVD Forum protects the interests of consumers by providing compatibility between DVD hardware, software, and optical discs. CyberLink PowerProducer 2 Gold and PowerProducer 2 are the first and second software to have successfully passed DVD Format Verification.
