J1 EIDE Interface Connector
Attach the IDE Interface and Power Cable in order for your computer to recognize that the IDE hard drive is in the system. The IDE interface and power cables must be connected to the hard drive, the mother board or the IDE hard drive interface card.

J2 Power Connector
Attach the Power Cable and IDE Interface cable (J1) in order for your computer to recognize that the IDE hard drive is in the system, the IDE interface and power cable must be connected to the hard drive, the mother board or the IDE hard drive interface card.

Jumper
Essentially a simple on/off switch in which a plastic-covered metal box is placed over two pins to close a circuit. Jumpers are usually used to set a device's attributes.
