The ASUS EAX1950Pro is an excellent buy for the consumer at $199 retail. It has all of the DirectX 9.0c features that you would want for today's computer games and the performance that outstrips its nearest competitor in most cases. ASUS has done a stellar job with their card, with it having a unique heat sink with a heat pipe not found on other X1950Pros. As such I can easily give the card a Silver Gamers' Choice award.

This is a great board for those seeking a workstation class motherboard that has multiple-monitor support. Stability and options are the P5W64 WS Pro's stand-out features. The lack of any PCI-X slots for 32-Bit SCSI may be daunting to those wanting to do video editing, but with SATA 2 at only a bit slower than the ultimate SCSI transfer rates available it's not much of a sacrifice. Not the fastest ship in the ASUS fleet, but it does have many things to attract a variety of users.

The Asus EAX1950PRO/HTDP/256M/A is the first of this new class of native CrossFire compatible ATi videocards to land on PCSTATS test bench. The best thing about the Asus EAX1950PRO is that it doesn't require a Master card to run Crossfire. The ATi Radeon X1950 Pro based PCI Express x16 videocard has 256MB of GDDR3 memory. It supports dual digital monitors and TV/S-Video output, along with high definition output through a set of component outputs. It doesn't come with a whole lot of software for an Asus videocard, only a driver disc and some Asus video utilities. TThere are no more messy external connector cables, no more Master videocards... so Crossfire might just have a chance in hell of succeeding now.

Asus has traditionally steered clear of consumer NAS appliances and the WL-700gE represents its first stab at this market. However, it's more than just a box with a hard disk inside as it combines a router, an integrated four-port Fast Ethernet switch, SPI firewall, wireless access point, web, media and FTP servers, a message board and even facilities for networking USB webcams and adding motion detection.

This is also a CrossFire-capable adapter, using the recently introduced internal system rather than the much-maligned external dongle. There's no need for a special CrossFire Edition of the X1650XT, as the RV560 GPU has a compositing engine built in. So read on to see how the Asus stacks up to the value competition, and whether ganging two of them together gives a worthwhile boost.

The ASUS Striker Extreme Motherboard has all of the features that you would want from a motherboard today. The nForce 680i chipset is designed for the extreme overclocker and the ability to run two graphics cards in SLI mode is always a big plus in my book. ASUS really went all out on the design of this board and it shows in the craftsmanship and performance of the board.

Asus is a brand that is becoming increasingly well established in the UK. Like its competitors such as MSI, it has branched out into areas such as notebooks with great success. This isn't really that surprising as Asus has been an OEM manufacturer for many company's notebooks for many years.

In early tests from the OEM's, this chipset performed less than stellar in the overclocking department but it was too late for companies to pull out of, as their production lines were already making boards based on this chipset. While they have been made, we won?t see them pushed like the nForce 600 series. For companies like ASUS who will create their own nForce 680i motherboard design which takes much more time than purely using the nVidia reference design, it is a good stop gap for them while the newer motherboard is being prepared. That is the exact reason why we are even looking at this motherboard here today.

NVIDIA's nForce 590 SLI chipset finally makes its way into the Intel platform after a long wait and ASUS is the first manufacturer to let us have a taste of high-end SLI x16 goodness with the P5N32-SLI Premium. Can the board take on the likes of the P5W DH Deluxe or P5B Deluxe?

The ASUS M2N32 WS Professional board is unique in several ways. First it's about the only board on the market today with PCI-X slots on the Socket AM2 platform. PCI-X can use both the PCI-X devices and PCI devices, meaning you lose nothing with the inclusion. As a workstation board, the M2N32 WS Professional scores 37 points on our Features chart. A great board for both the Workstation and Enthusiast user.

Keeping with ASUS tradition, the ASUS Radeon X1950XTX features a very large retail box with 3D character art represented on the front - this time, a futuristic looking soldier gets the glory, thanks to the fact that the ASUS Radeon X1950XTX retail package comes with a full copy of Ubisoft's acclaimed Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter. This is a nice addition to a high end videocard's retail package, as I can't think of many games currently available that would better test a high end system to its limits.

A year ago we would have never expected to say this, but ATi's CrossFire Xpress 3200 (aka the ATi RD580) Northbridge and SB600 Southbridge combo are as strong as the equivalent chipsets from nVidia. The Asus M2R32-MVP motherboard is moderately priced for a socket AM2 platform. The M2R32-MVP supports all Socket AM2 processors from the AMD Sempron to Athlon64, X2 and FX processors. There are four DDR2 DIMM slots which accommodate as much as 8GB Of DDR2-800 memory. The two PCI Express x16 slots are obviously for videocards, and Crossfire Edition videocards in particular if dual-card gaming is your thing.

The ASUS EN7950GT/HTDP/512M/A video card is an excellent example of the 7950GT series retailing for a MSRP of $299 (Newegg price 10/17/2006), matching the price of the other 7950GT cards. At this price point it's a decent purchase you get all of the features of the 7900 series, the performance of a 7950GT, and you get Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter.

The M2R32-MVP is a good solid choice without all the frills that a Deluxe or an ASUS Premium Edition board would carry. Things like a Wi-Fi AP Solo or extra SATA ports are not included, but the pricing should reflect this. Feature-wise, the M2R32-MVP board fits the bill, with 10 possible USB ports and two possible Firewire ports with brackets. The external SATA connector is another plus and overall the board is well rounded enough to satisfy many users who need functionality, but not overkill features.

Added to this is the fact that the GeForce 6150's onboard graphics controller can be enabled at the same time a PCI Express graphics card is installed to give multiple monitor support. This is really a nice addition as some large TV's coming out have the need to run two DVI ports to get the screen image up and working nicely. Added to this, GeForce 6150 supports DirectX 9 with Shader Model 3.0 which means it will work just fine with the fancy Aero interface in the upcoming Windows Vista OS.
