Having reviewed there revolutionary P80 frame last year I was really interested to see what changes and any improvements abit have made to the new P71 Series frame they have brought out. The Digital frame I?ll be reviewing today in the P71-A2 frame that looks totally different from the P80 frame in every way so let?s get on the review and see what lays in store for me.

For this review I will be taking a look at one of the new motherboards Abit are offering, the AX78 Phenom compatible motherboard, which I think is fair to say is aimed more towards the budget end of the market.

AMD and NVIDIA are now pushing towards a more power conscious chipset market with integrated features in order to boost their value. This can only mean good things for end users who not only get a more power friendly based PC (and in todays green market, this is big brownie points), but also features that weren't previously added. Today we are testing out the mid-range value option from NVIDIA; the GeForce 7100/630i board from abit. How does it perform? Let's push forward and begin with a look at the specifications.

Today we are looking at the ABIT IP35 Off Limits board based around the Intel P35 chipset and DDR2 memory. It's a scaled down version of the IP35 Pro Off Limits board we tested a while ago. ABIT has gone for a blue PCB with blue and black expansion slots, along with blue and black memory slots. The board measures 30x24cm so it?s of the full extended ATX sizing and will require a good case to be installed into.

The Abit IX38 QuadGT is a very solid and stable motherboard that overclocks very well and, as a result, it might appear to be an attractive proposition. Sadly though, it's let down by poor performance, a poor supporting package (which may not be a concern for many) and some of the board's features really polarise my opinion of it. In the end, I find it hard to justify the IX38 QuadGT's asking price, but if you aren't fazed by the below-par performance and occasionally strange choice on the feature list, the board is solid enough to stand up to a barrage of abuse.

The abit IP35 Pro was abit's top Intel motherboard before the arrival of the Intel X38 chipset, but with the IX38 QuadGT launched, is the board still a good choice for the power user? We took the IP35 Pro for our usual spin and found a solid performer not to be overlooked.

The IP35 Pro is a superb P35 motherboard that has all the features that you need at a reasonable price. However, we found it didn't overclock as much as we would have liked.

Most motherboards are usually geared toward the enthusiast or the budget builder, but more and more manufacturers lately are creating specialty-type motherboards, like ones for home entertainment. abit has created a motherboard just for this niche of people: the AN-M2HD. As the days pass, HTPC's continue to gain massive popularity with moviephiles with the advent of larger storage devices and HDMI. The AN-M2HD has an onboard HDMI connection for some of today's newer monitors/TV's. The AN-M2HD utilizes the new NVIDIA GeForce 7050PV North Bridge and NVIDIA nForce 630a South Bridge chips. Each chip is cooled by a heatsink to add to that extra quietness for a theater setup, but 4 auxiliary fan headers are included on the motherboard if extra cooling will be needed.

For years, Universal abit has been manufacturing top of the line motherboards, and the trend still continues with the IP35 Pro. This motherboard is loaded features that any enthusiast or mainstream user would enjoy. The Intel P35 chipset is at the heart, and boasts great performance. With a FSB of 1333MHz it will handle the new line of Intel processors, and do so with the addition of solid state capacitors. The chipset is cooled with abit's Silent OTEC cooling system, which is a fancy phrase for heatpipe cooling. A host of other features adorn the IP35 Pro, so let's get on with the review.

This time around we have two motherboards on our lab table. ABIT IP35 Pro Snake and ABIT IP35-E are board intended for use together with Intel's LGA 775 processors. As one can see for himself, the motherboards are based on Intel's newest, the P35 Express chipset which we already told a lot about. Still, it cannot hurt if we mention that these boards support the incoming wave of 45 nm processors with an FSB of 1333MHz.

The author of this article came to love ABIT brand in the time of nForce2 motherboards, when the already legendary model NF7 presented a perfect motherboard by standards of that time. Many years after, Abit is back with another legendary board based on nForce 680i chipset. Does first love last forever?
