The Albatron K8SLI exhibits an extraordinary level of overclocking potential, reaching 332MHz "FSB". (Note overclocking is NOT guaranteed and may vary from sample to sample.) Based on our sample, Albatron K8SLI entered the same realm as the famous DFI LanParty series!! However, the board is lacking a bit in terms of raw performance, as it is slower than Gigabyte's K8NXP-SLI. Users will also have to take note of the BIOS version though, as the board can be rather difficult to master with the pre-R1.12 BIOS...

nVIDIA recently addressed a rather large performance gap between its entry level and mainstream products by introducing the GeForce 6600LE GPU. It uses the same NV43 core as the mainstream Geforce 6600GT videocard, but this time around the NV43 has been teamed up with TSOP-II 400 MHz DDR memory which dramatically cuts down costs. Videocards based on the new GeForce 6600LE core, like the Albatron PC6600LEQ, can be had for around $100 US. That makes these cards very price competitive...

Albatron is one of the more innovative motherboard manufacturers, and its team of engineers has actually figured out a way of running SLI on the budget Intel 915PL chipset! Albatron's method does not split the PCI Express bus evenly between videocards like a true SLI chipset does, but it's close enough and it works! We will get into how the 915PL is turned into an SLI chipset in just a moment. Since the Albatron PX915SLI is based on the Intel 915PL chipset, the motherboard only supports Socket 775 Pentium 4 processors that run on a 533/800 MHz FSB...

Without a doubt, the 7800GTX offers the best performance possible from a single video card at this point in time. While it certainly costs a lot of money, those who can afford it won't be disappointed. I look forward to the day when Albatron releases a model that has their Cold Fusion (Wise Fan III + Heat Pipe Technology) cooler! With hope, we should be seeing something new from Albatron in the very near future...

The Albatron GeForce 7800GTX videocard is pretty darn impressive. In addion to its nVidia GeForce 7800 GTX GPU with 302 million transistors, the PCI Express x16 videocard packs 256MB of GDDR3 memory, SLi compatibility, a low-profile & low-noise heatsink, twin DVI video connections and support for a host of video input and output formats. Albatron ship along a basic set of software and cabletry with the Albatron 7800GTX videocard so that every feature can be used (SLI bracket excluded), but there's nothing else in the box aside from the 7800GTX card to really get excited about...

The Albatron K8SLI motherboard being tested over the following pages is a compact nVidia nForce4 SLI board that packs in quite a bit into a small space. Albatron K8SLI comes with a basic set of features, such as Gigabit network ethernet, 5.1 channel audio controller (with SPDIF out), two free 32 bit PCI slots as well two PCI Express x1 & PCI Express x16 slots, and the standard assortment of SATA and IDE connectors supported by the nForce 4 SLI chipset.

Albatron managed a fine score at the stock speed, as expected with its reference design, and achieved an unprecedented overclocking of 597MHz core and 1200MHz memory, thanks to the use of copper HSF. If you are looking for an affordable 6600GT PCI-E with a good overclocking potential then look no further than Albatron 6600GT PCI-E 128MB.

The Albatron PX925XE Pro-R that is one of these next generation high speed Intel motherboards based on the 925XE chipset. The board only supports 800 MHz and 1066 MHz FSB Socket 775 Pentium 4 processors, but is best suited for 1066FSB CPUs. This motherboard was very easy to use, and even a newbie computer user shouldn't have much trouble installing this board into a case without referring to the users manual.

What makes the Albatron Trinity GeForce PC6600U special is that it is one of the first commercially available, virtually silent videocards. This next generation 'stealth assassin' gives the consumer excellent performance without the noise. Nice. Based on the GeForce 6600 GPU, the PCI-Express based, SLI-compatible, Albatron Trinity GeForce PC6600U has 128MB of memory as well as an impressive heatpipe GPU cooling system that is virtually dead silent.

We were very pleased with the Albatron K8X890 Pro II when it came to performance. It was near the top of its class in every test and was especially impressive on the more demanding 3D applications. It looks like the K8T890 might just be a great gaming chipset, and the Albatron K8X890 Pro II is certainly an excellent motherboard for the hardcore gamer. If you're looking for a new PCI Express equipped AMD Athlon64 motherboard, the Albatron K8X890 Pro II can deliver the goods, so watch for it in stores.

I was very pleased with the K8 Ultra-U Pro; it offers decent performance combined with rock stability. Packed with almost every feature that can be found nowadays on higher end main boards, it makes the board suitable for almost every user, almost. Die hard overclockers looking for an S754 board might want to elsewhere, but for those who just want to overclock their system with stock cooling, this board will provides a hassle free solution, I've gained 450Mhz, for free, with the A64 CPU I used.
