BFG Tech is one of those companies you expect quality products from, no matter what you're buying. While most famous for their graphics cards, they make a range of products, including motherboards, accessories, and power supplies. BFG has a few lines of power supplies, from modular to energy efficient, and has recently started advertising their 550W and 680W LS power supplies. A few weeks ago, our very own Zahn had a look at the 550W version and was generally impressed with the quality and performance versus the price. Today, I'm going to have a look at the 680W version to see if it's true to their slogan, "efficiency and performance meets affordability."

BFG has a great power suppy here - not only does it look good, but it does it with performing style. For the duration of the testing, and the subsequent gaming session afterwards, performance remained solid while silence was in full effect. I found no issues with any of the cabling, or the installation of the unit - that was the fault of the unit. Overall, I would have to say that if you're in the market for a PSU at this price point ($219), BFG's ES800 is an excellent choice. While it's lack of support for Tri-SLI is definitely disappointing, it's ability to take a system with two 4870x2 or 9800GX2 cards is admirable.

BFG offers several different models of power supplies, from the value-oriented GS to the modular MX series, all the way up to their top of the line ES-800; they have something for every need and budget. The one I have for review today is the LS-550, which seems to fall somewhere in the middle of their lineup. Despite the relatively smallish power rating, the LS-550 offers quad +12v rails, 6 and 8-pin PCIe and ATX 2.2 version compatibility, all backed up by an impressive 5-year warranty.

It would be very, very hard not to covet this video card. I know I recently said that the 9800 GTX was the sexy card, but this one might actually look nicer, eye of the beholder and all. And it's not just skin-deep, it's faaast, and because of that, we can overlook its frightening heat production and power consumption. But it isn't a bargain. Thanks to price warring, it's in the 'you gotta be crazy' and not the 'price is no question' bracket, and because of that, it'll get more attention than it might deserve. It's compelling, after all--especially the idea of quad SLI. Not that I'd turn one down, but the people for whom it makes sense are fewer than the people that can afford it. That is to say, it's a great piece of hardware, but it's only a good idea in the strictest of circumstances.

Not long ago, I looked into a new line of units from BFG Tech, the LS series. Today, I'll have a look at the 550W model and see how it performs compared to the 680W. Efficiency is given as greater than 80% typical, and though they don't mention it, this model is 80 Plus certified. You will recall that big brother didn't quite manage to pull that off, and I'll be interested to see what happens on the load tester with this unit. Come in and join me, won't you?

Everything has changed: look, style, manufacturing facilities - and the ES Series from BFG represents the leading part of four new sub-brands; ES, MX, LS and GS. The ES-800 is a non-modular unit, but while some of you might stop reading there, we implore you to continue to see if BFG has a product that can really live up to the might of industry behemoths. After all, Corsair (who are traditionally a memory company) now makes power supplies that are recommended everywhere. Has BFG done the same? We found out.

Things in the power supply department over at BFG have been looking up in recent months, thanks in no small part to some new staff hired on over there, and one of the results is a unit I'm looking at today, the LS series 680W model. Sourced from an OEM I don't know all that much about, Fore Point, the LS680 promises good performance with a good amount of power at a good price. Let's see how it does when confronted by a lunatic (that's me) wielding a SunMoon ATE and a willingness to let all the magic smoke out.

At the time of review, BFG Tech was quoting us street prices of around $194.99 (around £115 inc. VAT) for the 9600 GT OCX and $184.99 (around £110 inc. VAT) for the 8800 GT OCX. While we haven't been given official UK pricing yet, we're expecting these cards to be priced in a similar range to the new Radeon HD 4800 series which, as I'm sure you'd like to know, offer significantly better performance for just a few quid more (as we'll see in Tim's upcoming article).

BFG, a company renowned as a VGA card manufacturer have recently released several PSU products, mostly aimed towards enthusiasts and power users. Today we will review one of their higher end units, the ES series 800W power supply. The ES series are not modular supplies they are designed to deliver great electrical performance and today we will put the unit through its paces to see how it holds up.

Today we are checking out the BFG 9600 GT OCX. This is one of the best performing and highest overclocked 9600 GT video cards we have tested to date. In the end the BFG 9600 GT OCX performed well, though it was out performed on a couple benchmarks ever so slightly by the Asus EN9600 GT Top. Some of the cards in this price range include nice game bundles, like the XFX 9600 GT Alpha Dog while the BFG 9600 GT OCX gets nothing additional.

We mentioned the other day when we reviewed the BFG 9600GT OC2 that BFG had recently expanded its OC line-up with the addition of the OC2 and OCX models. While the 9600GT only goes to OC2, the 9800 GTX is the first model to make use of the OCX naming scheme. The OCX naming is the highest level of overclock from BFG; while the company has been a bit conservative with overclocks over the past year, they felt it's time to kick it up a notch and expand upon the popular OC naming scheme.

Today we are testing out the BFG 8800 GT OCX with ThermoIntelligence video card. This 8800 GT retails for a bit over $200 and offers the best performance you will find in a 8800 GT video card. The performance that BFG gets out of the 8800 GT OCX is very impressive. The 8800 GT OCX is a very well priced card considering the performance it delivers with an online retail price of $209.99. This is the best performing 8800 GT I have tested.

Not too long ago BFG extended upon the OC range by adding the OC2, which was an even higher overclocked model. The company has actually managed to take it yet another step further in some cases, offering an OCX in the 9800 GTX range. What we have here today is BFGs highest clocked 9600GT; the OC2. We'll see if it's able to stand out from the huge pack of 9600GTs with something impressive.
