"Foxconn is not a new comer to the TweakTown labs, but it is a rarity to have the products up on the bench. After our testing with the 890GX based A9DA-S, we wanted to see more. In response to our request Foxconn sent along their entry level H55MX-S motherboard. This board is a no-frills entry level system that sells for a mere $79.99 at NewEgg.com. It is tailored for the low cost market and is certainly not meant as an enthusiast product. But will that hurt its performance? What happens when we put high-end tests onto an entry level board like the H55MX-S? I am eager to find out; how about you?"

X58 based motherboards are popping up thick and fast. And why not? - Core i7 is Intel?s new cash cow and its performance is beyond anything that Core 2 could ever hope for. Thanks to the on-chip memory controller, Intel has finally abandoned the old FSB interface for this high-end CPU and move to a more data friendly bus between the Northbridge and the CPU. No longer are memory transactions between CPU and DRAM required to go across a limited bus.

Foxconn's DigitaLife A79A-S is a very average board: the unimpressive feature list, the adequate performance and the overwhelming level of mediocrity that engulfs the package will set you back an amount that warrants so much more to justify. Given the size of the company and talent within it, there could be so much more impressive motherboards being cranked out - it boggles the mind as to why there has either been very little effort and thought put into this product or the engineers have shot so far off the mark they're stuck in orbit.
