G.Skill, known for their high end and competitively priced memory kits, is set to conquer the hearts of the budget minded people out there with their latest PC3200 DDR1 kit. When you hear the name G.Skill you think of nice overclocking headroom at good timings, let's see if this kit can continue the tradition. On the test bench today the F1-3200PHU2-2GB NS, a mainstream memory kit consisting of 2x1GB modules, it's rated at CL2.5-3-3-6 @ 200Mhz...

GSKILL F14000USU2-2GBHZ aka HZ series performed far beyond my expectations. GSKILL has come a long way in a short time since they began concentrating on the Enthusiast/Overclocking markets. Targeting a market segment populated with some of the most knowledgeable (often critical) consumers takes gumption. As Overclockers we are constantly looking for better deals and demanding better performance. We are a difficult crowd to please. Given the odds, GSKILL has most definitely earned a place among the most respected manufacturers of high-performance memory...

Today's memory review is an interesting one, though, as it's a 2x1GB offering that is seriously well priced compared to the competition. It's also rumoured to offer decent overclocking headroom. These modules are the G.Skill F1-3200PHU2-2GBZX which guarantee DDR400 2-2-3-5 with 2.6~2.75v for $215/£167. This is a superb price for sticks of this quality...

The G.Skill 1GBFC is an excellent low cost memory with high-end performance. There is no denying that UTT will yield you better performance but not everyone has a DFI nForce4 board, or would even want to run their memory at 3.5V+ to get the extra performance. What you get with this memory is 24/7, stable and cool operation at blisteringly high speeds - something UTT can not offer without risk...

The Winbond UTT chip based G.Skill Extreme PC3200 2-2-2-5 1GB Kit lived up to our expectations. With the right motherboard, these modules wil produce the best performance any PC3200 can offer. Its high overclockability at ultra low latencies will complement the high HTTs the nf4 chipsets can afford. There is no question that the Winbond UTT chips are the current kings of extreme latency DDRs. Its extreme overclockability at high voltages is proof of its unsurpassed performance at high speeds. There is just one catch, you have to pair it with a board that has extreme memory voltage adjustments as well. That is why we strongly advise some sort of active cooling on the memory modules as well...

G.Skill is fairly new to the PC-Enthusiast market, but the company has been manufacturing high performance DRAM for 16-years, they have no problem labeling themselves as a "niche" DRAM provider and are proud to bear the appellation. Today I test a product which earns a place in the semi-conductor Lexicon opposite the term versatile. G.skill's PC3200/PC4800 is an all inclusive DDR part in 512MB kit form and is one of the best examples of SPD programming I've seen to date.
