"G.Skill's ECO series is quite the kit when you consider what it is able to accomplish with what it is given. DDR3-1600 with only 1.35vdimm may become commonplace in the future but for now it is a nice surprise. Our testing showed that using this memory kit reduced power usage at the wall when compared to other kits that use the standard 1.65vdimm setting. Priced at $124.99 plus $2.99 for shipping, the G.Skill ECO DDR-1600 2x2GB are priced $15 above the lowest priced 4GB DDR3 1600MHz dual-channel memory kit, but it is priced among the majority of other DDR3-1600 C7 kits..."

The new G.Skill DDR3 modules are quite interesting for overclockers. They offer frequencies and oc-options other modules can't. And they do that for an affordable price.

G.Skill is offering a full range of P55 compatible memory kits, with the ECO being one of them. As the name implies, the memory aims to deliver the most performance while only requiring a mere 1.35V to run at 1600 MHz CL7-8-7.

"Today we have two sets of memory from G.Skill on our test bench, the high performane Pi series DDR3-2200 and a 1.35v set from the Eco series running at DDR3-1600."

In our first solid-state drive round-up last year we quickly learned that a SSD can only be as good as the controller working the magic behind it. That was the last time we checked a solid state drive from G.Skill, who is better known for its overclocking friendly memory modules. Last November G.Skill announced the Falcon II series featuring an updated Indilinx ECO controller, which as you may have guessed provides support for 34nm NAND flash memory as well as the latest firmware from Indilinx (v1819) with improved support for the Windows 7 TRIM command. With TRIM support enabled the new G.Skill Falcon II SSDs should be able to operate at peak performance consistently over time rather than suffering the common degradation problems of early MLC-based drives. It can't be emphasized enough that the controller's efficiency plays a major role in solid state drive performance, so we are eager to see how the new Indilinx ECO-based SSD pairs up against the competition.

"The G.Skill ECO 4GB DDR3 1600 CL7 Memory-Kit arrived Technic3D. Technic3D will see as good they are with Overclocking against the CSX Diablo, OCZ and G.Skill RipJaw/Trident Memory Kits on Windows Vista Ultimate 64 Bit and the Foxconn Bloodrage Mainboard. You can see 1.730 MHz (1,35V) with 8-8-8-24 (1T) in the following Review."

"Recently I looked at my first dual channel kit for the P55 platform. Today we're going to get stuck into the second one. The first thing that I have to mention about this kit from G.Skill is the name. I'm not sure what it is, but the name Ripjaws just sounds so cool. I've got my fingers crossed that it doesn't just stop there and hopefully we can slot the kit into our P55 test system and find ourselves getting excited about what the new series is able to offer us. The kit we're looking at today from G.Skill is a little faster than the PC3-15000 kit we looked at from OCZ recently. Instead we're moving to that PC3-16000 number which has become the main number for overclockers wanting a kit that's going to offer a bit more power."

Frankly we're amazed by how quickly the SSD market is moving forwards and a drive that just a few months ago was a unappealing has now, though some clever engineering, been turned into an absolute star performer that?s able to match and for the most part better a drive that, just a month ago, was one of the best available. Will 2009 be the year of the SSD? If the Titan is anything to go by, it certainly looks like it!

To sum things up, the F2-8800CL5D-4GBPI is a good kit as long as you don't expect too much above stock speeds. However, with attractive heatspreaders and even more attractive prices of DDR2, this is a great kit to add 4 gigabytes of memory for very little dough.
