Computer cases with enough features and cooling to please any gamer are rapidly dropping in price. Manufacturers are noticing the demand for affordable gaming rigs and reacting accordingly. In this article Benchmark Reviews tests the LanCool PC-K56W-B Mid-Tower Computer Case. It is part of the recent LanCool Dragon Lord series that helps bring economic relief to gamers searching for the best case for the best price. LanCool is the gaming division of Lian Li, a very well known name in the computer case industry. Benchmark Reviews is here to pit the PC-K56W against other recent additions to the "performance-case-at-a-low-price" arena. Recently, we brought you articles about NZXT's line of such cases. Will LanCool be able to keep up with features such as their tool-free design? Follow along as we find out.

When one looks for a case for a new high end PC building project, Lian Li always comes up among the interesting manufacturers. It is my opinion that Lian Li is synonymous with quality; design; elegance and exclusive features. This time I will be looking at a case which has all those features but also a reasonable price tag.
The LanCool is really more a brand of itself than just a Lian Li product series. Lian Li is by most considered as a high end brand, so to diversify into the medium range consumer market without negatively affecting the Lian Li brand, they started the LanCool brand. It is in some places sold without the ?Lian Li? in the product name. Anyhow, what really matters is that Lian Li targets lower price level market with the LanCool brand/series?

Lancool is a new brand and they're trying to get foot in the
market for gaming cases. Therefore the K62 comes with a relatively
cheap steel chassis, high quality Lian Li features as well as a
stylish design and blue LED fans.

The Dragonlord PC-K58 may not have the same bite as the K62 when it comes to looks, but has the exact same amazing internal functionality and the same feature set. So the Dragon may not look as dangerous but still manages to scorch things up on our review - at a significant discount.

"LanCool offers a few mid tower chassis? and within those is a series named Dragon Lord, of which the case we are looking at today is part of. At LanCool?s site there are seven cases that carry the Dragon Lord series name. All of these have the same basic chassis design, just each individual case has an option or two the others don?t, making each chassis in the series unique.
Today we are looking at the PC-K62 which LanCool had sent me as a pre-release version. While the packaging may have changed a bit and an instruction booklet may be included in yours, the chassis is as complete as it is going to get and you will see this same chassis with all the same options as I am about to show. Let?s get a look at the LanCool PC-K62 and see just what sort of features and options this budget minded chassis has to offer."

The Lancool PC-K62 is the high-end model of the Dragonlord Series. It comes stuffed with four fans, screw-less systems everywhere you look within that black interior and a cool looking window to top things off. We go in for the kill to see if we can tame the Dragon.

For us, there's a lot to like about the Metal Boned K7 - even including the rather unique name, which has somehow managed to grow on us like some sort of all-conquering fungus. Too many times we come across cases which have also tried to go back to basics but which fall down because they don't really understand what the basics are. Thankfully, Lancool do understand the basics and they've demonstrated it here. This is a no nonsense, solidly built case which is perfectly tailored to the needs of its audience.

The Lancool brand is created by Lian-Li and combines the flawless, understatement exterior with the sturdy bones of steel. This makes for the name "Metal Boned K7". The case is meant for LAN Parties and offers the same innovations found in the more expensive Lian-Li branded cases.

Nearly everyone who's looked for a new PC case will have heard the name Lian Li who are celebrated for their aluminium enclosures. Lian Li have always aimed their cases at the conservative computer owner, who would rather have a light-weight clean looking case rather than one jam packed full of cold cathodes and LED encrusted fans. Today I have in my hands the Metal Boned K7 chassis that while being dressed with a 'LANCOOL' badge is manufactured by Lian Li and has a distinct taste of it manufacturers styling. In fact the badge could be changed for a Lian Li and no-one would bat an eye-lid.
