It seems just like yesterday when Logitech released the updated flagship G5 laser mouse. The company flagship mouse seems to be short lived, however -- being available in the market for more than a couple months is Logitech's new flagship mouse for computer enthusiasts, the Logitech G9 -- in which can be considered quite a unique and different offering from Logitech's flagship product in its category. Almost all flagship enthusiast Logitech mice for the past few generations uses the shell first implemented with the MX500 -- it continued onto the MX510, MX518, G5, and finally, the G5 V2. The G9, on the other hand, follows none of the previous tradition as a radically new shell is developed along with a unique placement of buttons as well as the famous free-spin wheel first introduced in the Logitech MX Revolution and Logitech VX Revolution. What it really reminds me of is the car enthusiast's long awaited Pontiac G8 on a RWD platform for a full sized sedan at a relatively reasonable price. As juxtaposed to the Logitech G9, is this change a practical improvement over previous mice from the company, or a negative impact among its users? Let's investigate into this as we go over the Logitech G9 today.

The desktop mouse sector has been relatively stagnant, with little to no new features except for slight cosmetic redesigns and the inclusion of a few more buttons. Then out of the blue came Logitechs Hyper-scroll technology, which singlehandedly (r)evolutionized how people used mice. Being able to scroll through hundreds of pages with just a flick of the wheel was impressive, but the technology behind the dynamic switching between hyper and regular scroll was even more jaw-dropping. Apparently still not satisfied with what they created, Logitech have kept developing new technologies, the result of which is the MX Air we have on review today. Aimed at people who want to control a computer desktop without the need to be sitting at a desk, this little device is apparently the next big thing in HTPC development.

The computer keyboard is the first and longest standing peripheral hardware device to exist in our industry. Very few changes have altered the way casual users interact with their personal computer. But this is the new age of gaming-grade hardware, and basic equipment is not on the parts list. Logitech introduces the G15 2007 Programmable LCD Gaming Keyboard 920-000379, and Benchmark Reviews tests it with a few of the more popular video games.

Logitech goes all out with their latest gaming mouse - the G9. While it may look very futuristic, the shape is perfect for right handed gamers. The G9 can be customized in almost every aspect, from weight to size and feel over to all the DPI settings and button assignments. This makes the device the perfect weapon of choice, no matter what type of gamer you are.

In terms of comfort, the Wave keyboard is innovative and effective. The mouse is also comfortable. In fact, Logitech markets it not as an "ergonomic" set but as a "comfort" set. This may be because ergonomic keyboards are often associated with having a learning curve when it comes to using them. In my experience, I had no problems adapting to the Wave. In fact, if anything, the Wave feels more natural than a normal keyboard!

More than just a design refresh of the X-540 system, the G51 gaming speaker system delivers plenty of substance and several features that are intended to appeal to the specific tastes of gamers. We've got a set, and we're putting it to the test.

The original G15 was meant to cater to a niche group of gamers and enthusiasts, and attempting to make it more "mainstream" by toning down some features totally defeats the original purpose. Added to this, the MSRP of the new G15 is $100 USD, compared to only $80 USD for the original G15 when it came out in 2005. This of course doesn't mean that the G15 v2 is a bad keyboard. On the contrary, I was very pleased with it, and compared with other options, I believe it is the best buy. On its own, the G15 v2 is a very good keyboard, and if the original G15 had not existed I would probably rate it as the best.

There is another piece to the puzzle that many gamers totally overlook and skimp on: audio. A decent 2.1 system is more than enough to get you by, but if you really want to hear the game as it was intended to be heard, surround sound is a must. Surround sound totally immerses you in the game you are playing and gives you a true advantage over someone using headphones or 2.1 audio.

High definition is the motto of today's electronics. Everything has got to be high def: from your home theater's TV to the LCD monitor hooked to your PC to - who knew? - the mouse you’re using right now. The newest gaming mouse from Logitech, the G9 model, reaches an impressive resolution of 3,200 dpi, breaking the 2,000 dpi barrier of his G5 precursor and similar models in the market. It also incorporates the highly praised scroll wheel from Logitech's VX Revolution line. With two different interchangeable grips the mouse is just as useful for gaming as for regular desktop use.

Logitech released a revised G5 mouse earlier this year, and now have given attention to their most popular gaming keyboard, the G15. Updates were made for the sake of size, so a few features have been modified to reflect that. In the end though, it still proves to be an exceptional offering.

Since Logitech never stands idle in the fast paced computer peripheral market, they have redesigned their gaming edition of mice. The G9 is a definite step in a different direction compared to the previous top of the line model, the G7. It is now a corded mouse and incorporates features that are present on the MX Revolution and from the G5. While the cord can be a burden, the entire mouse is a great evolutionary step.

It's a bit of a fiddle to get the perfect setup, but the sheer flexibility of what you can do with the Harmony 1000 and the ease with which such complex operations can be programmed in is to be highly commended.
