"So, you just got your new iPhone 3GS and you need something to cover and protect it. What do you do? That is where Otterbox comes in with a protective skin for the Apple iPhone 3G/3GS. Much like the others in the Otterbox Impact Series this protective case comes well equipped to handle all of the bumps and scrapes that happen on a typical day. With its rubberized texture it insures a solid grip on the phone without losing the iPhone's functionality. A new addition to the package is a protective film to cover the screen. This protective case comes in two colors, white or black, the latter of which we are looking at today..."

Leading up to the Consumer Electronic Show (CES) last month in Las Vegas, we received many invitations to check out various booths, receptions, other displays, and even a Gulfstream G5 flight out to the San Fernando Valley. One of the booth invitations we received was from a company known as OtterBox. Their booth had consisted of various protective cases for PDAs, iPods, phones, and GPS devices. We had initially written off Otterbox as a company of little interest to our Linux readers seeing as they just manufactured cases for consumer electronic devices. However, that was before we had noticed the OtterBox 7030. The OtterBox 7030 is a notebook case that is not only waterproof but also crushproof, can even be dropped up to a meter with your notebook inside, and of course is engineered to prevent any damage to the laptop itself. Keeping in mind we are the ones that boil USB flash drives and use motherboards to open beer bottles, we have our hands today on the OtterBox 7030. Is this polypropylene chassis able to protect a notebook inside when it's being used as a winter sled?

OtterBox must have heard similar reactions from others, as they now have two distinct lines of cases for your valued electronics: The Armor Series, which is rugged to the extreme, and the Defender Series, labeled as "semi-rugged". Today we will be looking at the latter, in the OtterBox for iPhone Defender Series.

For most people the iPhone was an investment. At $400 it is not a cheap phone so you want to protect it. With the popularity of the iPhone there are a ton of cases out there, but what case will really protect your iPhone. We took a look at the Otterbox for iPod Nano a while ago and it provided ultimate protection, so we were excited when Otterbox announced an iPhone case. The defender case is not as extreme as it is not fully waterproof, but it does offer much more protection than many other cases out there.

You may of may not have heard of Otterbox. Way back in July we took a look at their 7000 series laptop case. Although the case was not the most eye-catching case out there it provided unrivaled protection for your laptop. Well Otterbox makes a whole slew of cases for all your electronic devices. Today we will be taking a look at the case for the iPod Nano and we will see if the case as well as our Nano survives our tests.
