Everyone here at the TrustedReviews office has a bit of a penchant for ultra mobile laptops. The regular travelling and 24/7 nature of our work means we're constantly working on the move and we require long lasting low weight laptops to facilitate this. Take Computex, for instance, a 12 hour flight to Hong Kong, another quick hop to Taipei and then four days of walking from booth to endless booth, only to be followed by a another 20 hours of travelling back to Blighty. In between all this moving about you then actually have to find some time to sit down and write about it all. Without a laptop that can keep going for most of the day, this can be next to impossible.

Long ago it seems, when I bought my first SATA HDD and yet, it is only now that I get to play with my first SATA DVD drive. Why you ask? Well it's actually taken this long for SATA CD/DVD drives to catch up to IDE drives in terms of performance and price. QuietPC have sent me the Samsung Writemaster SH-S183A/BEBN SATA DVD Drive. Catchy; let's see if its time to ditch the ribbon cables forever.

Now I'm looking at the direct descendant of the Q30, the originally named Q40. At first glance, this Q40 looks exactly the same as the Q30 from over two years ago, but Samsung has not been resting on its laurels. First up, I should mention that this is an ultra-portable notebook in the true sense of the word, which means that there is no integrated optical drive.

Clearly, size matters. For surely if Samsung was anything less than the world's largest maker of LCD panels it wouldn't be able to sell a 32in LCD TV as packed with features and quality as the LE-32R87BD for south of £500. Right from the off the price/quality equation just doesn't seem to make sense. The TV's sumptuous high gloss finish, minimal fascia and subtle but telling curves all belong on a premium TV, not one priced at the 'bargain basement' level.

About two years ago I looked at the 30in Apple Cinema Display and was amazed at how useful a 2,560 x 1,600 desktop display could be. At the time there wasn't a competing product available, and the price of the panel was over £2,000. Since then, other manufacturers have got in on the 30in display act, with Dell making the biggest splash and also helping bring the price down. Now Samsung has entered the market with the SyncMaster 305T and as is usually the case with Samsung these days, it has got pretty much everything right.

Samsung is a huge electronics brand and has gained a lot of popularity in the mobile phone market, even though it cannot compete with the giants like Nokia, Sony Ericsson and Motorola, it is still quite amazing how many new models Samsung brings out each year. Today we are having a look at the SGH-i710 which is a Windows Mobile 5 powered handset. Although many Windows Mobile powered devices tend to be quite similar, Samsung has done a fantastic job to make the SGH-i710 stand out from the crowd. Although the handset we had a look at was the Chinese version, the SGH-i718, overall functionality is the same and so are all the hardware features, the main difference being the language on the handset and some applications. The SGH-i718 has been available on the Chinese market for some time, but the SGH-i710 only became available earlier this year.

Now Samsung has added its SGH-U600 to the slider range. The last Samsung slider I looked at was the SGH-D840, but the SGH-U600 is certainly in the running for the title 'thin and cool slider of the year' - if there were such an award.

Connect an HD source to the display, sit back, and watch.. and prepare to be amazed. It's hard to really knock this display folks. It has 1080p resolutions, supports a wide variety of connectors, accurately reproduces colors, and even makes standard definition video signals look good.

Back in March we looked at the Samsung Aura R20 notebook, which provided staggeringly good value for money, as well as a shiny black finish that belied its budget roots. Back then I was aware that there was more to come from the Aura range, and today, in line with the launch of Intel's new Santa Rosa platform, I'm casting my eye over the new R70.

The S730 is the mid-range model of the 13 camera in the S-series, which rather confusingly includes several models whose designations begin with A or D. It is a low-cost 7.2-megapixel 3x zoom camera powered by two AA batteries, and currently available for around £110. This is a pretty crowded sector of the market, with all of the major manufacturers offering something comparable.

The Lily from Samsung is an entry level flip phone and without wanting to sound patronising in any way is most definitely a phone aimed at younger girls. Its livery is mostly white with flashes of pale pinky-purple around the edges. The two colours are used in pretty much equal measure along with silver.

Some people say big may not be necessarily better. I guess they haven't had the luxury of working with a 27" LCD monitor. In this case, big has definitely been a huge plus in my book. Samsung once again brings a smile to my face and makes friends envious of the toys I get to play with.

The Samsung CLP-300 colour laser printer brings to the table speeds of up to 17ppm for black and 4ppm for colour, and a promised resolution of 2400 x 600 dpi effective output. All this is compacted into a package whose footprint isn't much bigger than a large inkjet printer. To achieve this diminutive size, Samsung uses some clever tricks in the design of their toner cartridges. Samsung does purport that the CLP-300 outputs "near photo quality" images, and statements like that tend to make us wonder "how near are we talking?" That being said, initial impressions of the printer (the out-of-box experience) were ok overall. You can expect us to go far more in-depth later on.

Buying an extremely large LCD monitor may seem to be an easy decision if you have the money, but gamers need not apply. This monitor is made for publishers, video editing professionals, movie enthusiasts or anyone needing a literal field of workspace to enable them to be as productive as possible. I know that after this monitor is returned to Samsung I will be purchasing one in short order. This monitor is one of those peripherals that once you have used it and gotten used to it, it is next to impossible to go back to anything smaller.
