The fascia of the PSP is dominated by the 4.3in TFT screen and I can pretty much guarantee that you've never seen a display like this on a hand-held device before. The screen has a 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio, making it ideal for watching movies as well as playing games, with a resolution of 480 x 272 and a full 24bit colour depth. The screen also incorporates Sony's X-Black coating, so the image is amazingly bright and vivid. The image produced by the PSP display is just breathtaking, and I've yet to show this device to anyone that hasn't been impressed by it...

The Sony VAIO VGN-S4N is a great little notebook. It's just the right side of 2kg to make it a viable option for the road warrior, and it's just large enough so that anyone with large digits won't struggle. Inside the spec is more than adequate for a slim and light notebook. There's a 1.6GHz Pentium M CPU backed up by 512MB of memory and a 60GB hard disk. There's an nVidia GeForce 6200 TurboCache graphics chipset, which can allocate up to 128MB of system memory for graphics duty. You're not going to be able to play the latest 3D games at native resolution, but to be honest, that's not what it's built for...

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W15 is an excellent mid-range camera, offering an easy-to-use package that would make an ideal gift for a keen amateur photographer. Picture quality and performance are outstanding, and the camera has some limited potential for creative use, although an enthusiast will want to upgrade soon. The inclusion of a leather case and spare batteries is a nice touch, although a decent-sized Memory Stick would also be a welcome addition...

Sony has never made a big song and dance about its surveillance products but it has a surprisingly large range of network IP cameras and with prices to match most pockets as well. The SNC-M3W is a fine example as this eyeball camera offers wired and wireless capabilities, pan and tilt, a maximum 30fps, internal and external audio functions plus motion detection and all at a price that competes very strongly with D-Link's DCS-5300G...

Sony has built a sleek all-in-one media PC that wouldn't look out of place in even the most stylish of homes. Unfortunately there are a few small issues that stop the VAIO VGC-V3M from being a must have machine, with the lack of digital TV tuner and integrated WiFi being the worst culprits. However, if you can live without those features and need to have your entertainment centre and PC all in one good looking box, the VGC-V3M should fit the bill.

The 7.2 megapixel Cyber-shot P200 employs a Carl Zeiss Vario Tessar 3X optical zoom lens, a large 2-inch LCD screen and other features and benefits typically found on more full-sized cameras. The stylish and durable alloy body is only one inch thin, comes in silver or red color and takes vibrant digital photos, capturing color and detail not commonly found in such a compact camera.

In hardware terms though the Sony is a lean mean little player that knocks spots off the iPod in terms of size, battery life, sound quality and even price. You can pick the NW-HD5 up from Komplett for only £169 (silver and red only) - 40 quid less than the 20GB iPod. Granted it still doesn't have the same unquantifiable cool but then there are an awful lot of people who aren't members of the iPod fan club. Whether the thought of going Sony will appeal to them any more is debatable though and the look and the interface of the NW-HD5 may be too quirky for some.

The Sony Cyber-shot S40 will make a great choice for those who want to dive into the digital age, but don't want to reach too far into their pocketbook. Its combination of speedy performance, good overall image quality and affordable $199 price tag, makes it a worthy competitor in the entry-level digicam class. The only thing we found it to be lacking was its small 1.5-inch LCD.

Sony's new Stamina series of Cyber-shot digital cameras set a new standard for speed, battery life and picture quality in compact cameras. The DSC-S60 is an easy-to-use, four-megapixel camera that's packed with features like Sony's Real Imaging Processor circuitry for better battery efficiency, more responsiveness and high quality movie taking. The Carl Zeiss 3X optical zoom lens complements the high resolution imager for great picture clarity, while 32 MB of internal memory and a Memory Stick media slot provide plenty of storage capacity...

In a crowded and highly competitive sector of the digital camera market the Sony P200 stands out as a very high quality camera for a comparatively low price. It has plenty of useful features, excellent build quality, good image quality and lightning-fast performance. If you're considering a camera upgrade this year, you should certainly give it consideration.

Dubbed a 'Multifunction' display, the MFM-HT75W offers pretty similar specifications to the likes of the Samsung and Toshiba but there are some major differences. As with the other two the screen has a 15:9 ascpect ratio 1,280 x 768 native widescreen resolution. However, Sony has employed its X-Black display technology, providing a high brightness, high gloss image. While some may balk at this technology on notebooks, it really does come into its own on a device such as this. While it can be used as a monitor it's eye catching styling clearly mark it out as a TV first and a monitor second.

The Sony VAIO VGN-T2XP is a fantastic little notebook. It has pretty much everything you need integrated into its svelte chassis, but still manages to keep weight down to a minimum. The outstanding battery life just makes this machine even more attractive to the target market. If you want something small and light with great battery life and an integrated DVD writer, the T2XP should be top of your list.
