"Let's blow away the smoke-this is one of the best new digicams we've reviewed in a long time, well deserving its pick as an Editor's Choice. It's far from the perfect camera we're always searching for but it does so many things well, it should go near the top of the list of anyone shopping for a new digicam. Why are we so juiced about the TX7? Read on and find out."

?When it comes to choosing a business laptop some people have it easy. In larger corporates you get what you are given, and while you might lust after whatever computer the person sitting on next to you on the train has, you know that you will have to live with what someone else has chosen for you. If you are in a smaller organisation you may get involved in the decision making process. If you work for yourself the decision is all yours to make. And if you are a top executive, well, then you might get to make your own decision too. When you are in control of the purse-strings, value for money really matters. So does paying as much as £2399 for a laptop, even one as thin, well designed and alluring as the Sony VAIO Z, have any kind of appeal at all??

"Whenever somebody starts gunning for the iPhone, we breathe a heavy sigh. Call it callous, but after watching even the most promising iPhone killers skid on their faces, it just hurts our little hearts too much to hang our hopes on one more, only to see it hit the pavement."

"It was hard walking the aisles at CES without tripping over mounds of flash memory camcorders like the Flip. Harder to find were higher-quality "real" camcorders with zoom lenses and much better high-definition (HD) performance. Oh, they were there all right - if you could fight your way through the crowds ogling 3D HDTV demos. Once you found them though, one huge trend beat you over the head-the fact that 2010 is a flash memory camcorder world as tape, disk and even HDD models fade away. A fine example of a top-quality unit being the Sony Handycam HDR-CX520V, which is about as far from a Flip as you can imagine. To find out just how far, read onward."

Today, I?m looking at the entry level Sony VPL-BW7 Projector that features the Bright Era panel technology. The VL-BW7 is on the lower end of the spectrum, targeted towards the home user. It has a 1000:1 Contrast Ratio and a Brightness rating of 2000 ANSI Lumens along with a 16:9 widescreen resolution of 1280?800 supporting Sony?s 3LCD panel technology. Although this is not full HD, it will allow you to play 720P or 1080i content. The higher-end projectors in the SXRD series are full HD capable but cost twice as much as the BW7 which is roughly available for AED 4,500.

"Perhaps no tech company short of Apple makes style more paramount than Sony. The new Vaio CW series, however, melds Sony's knack for sharp design with a trait more foreign to the company: affordability. The fresh Vaio line of Nvidia-powered 14.1-inch notebooks charts an intelligent course between style and substance, while keeping price in check all the while, making it a great choice for the practical fashionista on a budget."

"Sony builds pretty notebooks, and the VAIO NW series is no exception. The textured plastic enclosure looks fabulous in silver, and it resists fingerprints far better than the glossy finishes that have become so common. While it's exciting to see a Blu-ray drive in a notebook at this price point ($880), it's unfortunate that the battery doesn't have enough juice to finish a feature-length movie. The model VGN-NW150J/S sent for this review has a beautiful 15.5-inch display, but its reliance on an Intel integrated graphics solution renders it wholly unsuited for gaming. If your needs are more mainstream and you don't mind lugging a bit of weight-the machine and its power supply weigh a hefty six pounds, seven ounces-the VAIO NW is a good value, however."

"While DSLRs generate huge amounts of online buzz, point-and-shoot digital cameras generate huge amounts of sales. An analyst told us that over 30 million digicams will be purchased this year, the majority for less than $199. Yet if you're at this site, a low-priced model is not your target, and we're not too thrilled with them either. Enter the new 10-megapixel Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX1 for $379, an aim-and-forget camera that's loaded with some definite buzz-worthy technology, including a new CMOS sensor, along with the ability to capture great panoramas and quality images in low light. Let's see how this one worked overall in the real world."

"In a world in which computer manufacturers seem to be moving at light speed toward smaller, humbler laptops (see: the netbook phenomenon), it's nice to see at least one vendor throw caution to the wind and deliver a giant rig that is, in effect, a portable home theatre system. Sony's top-of-the-line VAIO sports a mammoth, ultra-wide 18.4-inch display and all of the hardware and accessories necessary to turn it into a mobile entertainment powerhouse. Just be prepared to buy a new carrying case, as this ultra-wide machine will likely split the seams of your existing notebook bag."

The popularity of hard disk drive standard definition and high-def camcorders continues to climb. Nothing beats the storage capability of a HDD video maker-just think, you can record hour after hour of baby giggles, if that's your thing (and new parents, you can admit it). Hard drive cams are great for everyone else too since you can record anything to your heart's content for much longer than any tape or disk-based system. And nothing beats the instantly generated thumbnails that let you hop from scene to scene during playback. Sony dominates the HDD market for SD and HD video makers-just as they do every other camcorder format. That said we were happy to get our hands on the new HDR-SR11, the company's HDD model that records Full HD 1920 x 1080I video along with 10-megapixel digital stills to a hefty 60GB hard drive. The camcorder even has Face Detection, the digicam feature du jour that works for video and stills. Even though there were no toddlers in the house, we definitely wanted to start recording ASA.

Equating slimness to attractiveness, it's evident that Sony's Cyber-shot T77 is pretty, well, pretty for the fashionable crowd. We'll show you why.
