"Let's blow away the smoke-this is one of the best new digicams we've reviewed in a long time, well deserving its pick as an Editor's Choice. It's far from the perfect camera we're always searching for but it does so many things well, it should go near the top of the list of anyone shopping for a new digicam. Why are we so juiced about the TX7? Read on and find out."

"It was hard walking the aisles at CES without tripping over mounds of flash memory camcorders like the Flip. Harder to find were higher-quality "real" camcorders with zoom lenses and much better high-definition (HD) performance. Oh, they were there all right - if you could fight your way through the crowds ogling 3D HDTV demos. Once you found them though, one huge trend beat you over the head-the fact that 2010 is a flash memory camcorder world as tape, disk and even HDD models fade away. A fine example of a top-quality unit being the Sony Handycam HDR-CX520V, which is about as far from a Flip as you can imagine. To find out just how far, read onward."

"Sony builds pretty notebooks, and the VAIO NW series is no exception. The textured plastic enclosure looks fabulous in silver, and it resists fingerprints far better than the glossy finishes that have become so common. While it's exciting to see a Blu-ray drive in a notebook at this price point ($880), it's unfortunate that the battery doesn't have enough juice to finish a feature-length movie. The model VGN-NW150J/S sent for this review has a beautiful 15.5-inch display, but its reliance on an Intel integrated graphics solution renders it wholly unsuited for gaming. If your needs are more mainstream and you don't mind lugging a bit of weight-the machine and its power supply weigh a hefty six pounds, seven ounces-the VAIO NW is a good value, however."

"While DSLRs generate huge amounts of online buzz, point-and-shoot digital cameras generate huge amounts of sales. An analyst told us that over 30 million digicams will be purchased this year, the majority for less than $199. Yet if you're at this site, a low-priced model is not your target, and we're not too thrilled with them either. Enter the new 10-megapixel Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX1 for $379, an aim-and-forget camera that's loaded with some definite buzz-worthy technology, including a new CMOS sensor, along with the ability to capture great panoramas and quality images in low light. Let's see how this one worked overall in the real world."

"In a world in which computer manufacturers seem to be moving at light speed toward smaller, humbler laptops (see: the netbook phenomenon), it's nice to see at least one vendor throw caution to the wind and deliver a giant rig that is, in effect, a portable home theatre system. Sony's top-of-the-line VAIO sports a mammoth, ultra-wide 18.4-inch display and all of the hardware and accessories necessary to turn it into a mobile entertainment powerhouse. Just be prepared to buy a new carrying case, as this ultra-wide machine will likely split the seams of your existing notebook bag."
