Sony Ericsson's latest fashion statement comes in the form the of the sexy Z610i clamshell mobile phone, but there's more to it than just looks. This 3G camera phone can work and play just as hard.

The W810i is billed as a music fan?s handset and its 512MB MemoryStick Duo card and easy file copy facility is a good start. The dedicated music buttons help too, but its battery life and playback quality fall short of what dedicated players provide. In the end if you want music from a phone this handset is pretty much at the top of the tree in terms of features and capability, but it?s not going to come out on top in a direct comparison with a dedicated player.

Sony Ericsson has become a stronger and better competitor in the mobile phone industry over the past few years, releasing more feature-rich phones that are making the company well known. Their w800i Walkman phone is no exception. It is a stunning piece of gadgetry that runs with a pretty high price tag, around $450 for an unlocked version of the phone. It's well worth it though, as the Sony Ericsson w800i will replace your digital camera for most occasions, grind your iPod use to a halt, and will even get you back into mobile gaming...

What do you get when you marry the Sony Ericsson S600i and the W800i together? Simple. You get a Walkman camera phone with a fancy swiveling function in the shape of the new Sony Ericsson W550i... ;-)

The Sony Ericsson K608i is certainly impressive in terms of handset size and video call performance. Unfortunately, a horrible keypad mars an otherwise pleasant experience, and the inclusion of an MP3 player with only 30 MB of storage and no means of memory expansion is laughable at best. In between these extremes, we find a decent 1.3 MP camera and a bright and clear, yet small, screen - so all in all, the Sony Ericsson K608i comes recommended as a 3G handset for average joe...

First things first, the latest spawn from Sony Ericsson is not going to be affordable by everyone. At a suggested standalone retail price of US$590, the W800i is just a whisker off the price commanded by the O2 XDA II mini Pocket PC Phone, which is a little steep by any measure. For the price that Sony Ericsson is asking for their first ever Walkman mobile phone, consumers would have to give some serious thoughts on whether or not the W800i (essentially just a basic mobile phone with the Walkman endorsed application and a 2.0-megapixel digital camera), is a more worthwhile proposition than the O2 XDA II mini, which apart from having just a VGA digital camera, has much more functions to bring to the table...

Not only looking good, the clamshell Z800i also delivers the goods with regard to ergonomics - as compared to other 3G handsets, that is. An excellent 262K colour display is backed up by a handy external display and user-friendly video telephony application, however the performance of the integrated camera is a tad on the mediocre side. Despite this, the Z800i delivers a polished and slick user interface, and Z800i comes highly recommended as a 3G handset.
