Speedlink are well known for making some top notch headsets, with their previous range of Medusas making real waves in the review community. Now though it's time for a refresh, a re-release if you will. The Medusa is back, this time termed the NX and while it's still got a really long cable and 5.1 surround sound, can it stand up to the previous generation's top notch performance?

Todays product must be one of the oddest things we have reviewed ever- and I've seen alot! We are going to take a look at Speedlinks VOIP mouse, this little mouse is the size of a laptop mouse and it opens up to be a corded Skype Phone. You can either receive calls or just make a call yourself. The small display shows you who is online and it allows you to call straight from the phone, to me those features don't sound to bad but how well does it actually works is the question I ask myself.

There are two key gaming mice manufactures that have been doing just that for years, Razer and Logitech. However, these high-spec mice come at a cost, and are often over the top for the average gamer, who wants accuracy and comfort, but still some money left in the bank. So today I have Speedlink's Styx which features a laser diode to pick up your movements, and spitting out 2200 DPI accuracy. Let's see how it performs.

Speed-Link's newest offering utilizes a snazy blue and black color theme, packed in a very thin and compact aluminum package. The Illuminated Dark Metal Keyboard takes the existing small profile keyboard line-up of the company and aims to deliver a quiet, comfortable, good looking and sturdy keyboard.

As gaming becomes more of a mainstream activity, a more team co-operative and team based gaming community has evolved. Because of this more and more companies are striving to be the best at keeping us gamers in contact with each other. "Gamer Headsets" are everywhere, but some are obviously better than others. Having tested the Steel Series 5h headset a couple of months ago I thought I had found a headset I could safely say was MY headset, that was until I was sent the Medusa 5.1 surround sound headset from SpeedLink...

The Medusa 5.1 Surround Headset is intended mostly for the gamers who need the surround sound in order to accurately position the enemies around them during an intense online FPS game, and the included microphone in order to communicate with their teammates and coordinate their actions.
Surround sound is useful not only for multiplayer games, but also for single player games and DVD movies with 6 sound channels, and the microphone can also be used for VoIP software, such as Skype and other similar applications...

Overall, there's no way you can say that these are as good as having a real surround sounds speaker system, but if you have to go for headphones these are a fantastic alternative. You retain 5.1 surround, you don't have to unplug your speakers and you can individually adjust the volume for each channel. You also get a good quality integrated microphone and you can listen in pairs to DVDs if you get the twin set. They're comfortable to wear and they don't sound half-bad either. So what the damage? Remarkably CCL is offering them for only £36 - less than that of the far less flexible Zalmans. If you're a gamer that likes surround sound and you need a headset, these are nothing less than essential...
