Vadim Computers' Fusion LQX PC costs £5,800. It's got fancy water-cooling, a massively overclocked quad-core processor and some saucy air-brushed artwork. But what kind of value can it be with only a two-year warranty and a single graphics card and no monitor, mouse, keyboard or speakers?

Every Vadim machine is hand built and tested by a single person, it's not just run off a factory in China then shipped to your door in a brown box. The personal service is a key component and attraction that makes a Vadim system seem worth the price. If we disregard the £1,000 custom paint job that's not quite perfect, this Vadim machine is well worth buying. However, we have to evaluate what's in front of us and despite Vadim assuring us that the paint blemishes were because of the quick turnaround, we can't guarantee that those won't be there in PCs built for paying customers.

If you ask the average person on the street who they think makes the most desirable gaming computers on the planet, they'll probably mention names like Voodoo PC and Alienware but that's where they'd be oh-so wrong. That crown is firmly held by the little known system builder from Harrow, Vadim Computers.

Despite the fact there are very few people who will really consider this PC for purchase, we feel that Vadim does fill a certain market niche incredibly well. If you are in the market for an ultra high-end PC and have appreciably deep pockets, but don't have the skill of our modding forum gurus there are really very few alternatives to consider. For £5,000 surely you don't want a generic box, you want to invest in something special and unique but without the stress of organising it yourself, and that's exactly what this Vadim machine is.
