Gaming performance aside, DirectX 11 support is not very important at this moment due to the scarcity of DX11 games but as we move further into 2010 and into 2011 we will see many games with support for it. In any event the HD 5670 is an excellent choice for those wanting DX11 support from an under $100 video card and a great choice for those wanting three monitor support from an inexpensive card and Home Theater PC owners wanting a modern video card that will fit easily into their cases.

Now they are launching a more mainstream model rated at 650 W, called XXX Edition, featuring modular cabling system, single-rail design and 80 Plus Bronze certification. "XFX's version of the HD5770 videocard is a great performing DirectX 11 videocard for the money. This videocard and its excellent reference cooling loves to overclock and performs beyond expectations for a mainstream videocard. In fact, two of them would make a highly affordable crossfire setup for slightly over US$350."

"In our performance testing the XFX Radeon HD 4850 1GB was up against some stiff competition, namely it's faster and more expensive 4000 series brothers. To say that the 4850 1GB is a bad card would be incorrect. At just $124.99 it is an extremely capable gaming card and the best bang for the buck in our testing today. A few years ago, buying a sub $150 video card meant that you had to keep the resolution low and turn down or off certain in-game features in order to get playable results. That is not the case today, the XFX Radeon HD 4850 1GB is able to play the latest games with all the eye candy on, though the compromise will be keeping it 1680x1050 or lower in most cases..."

Overall, to say I am impressed with XFX's tweaked version of the 9800GTX+ would be an understatement. It handles all the recent games with relative ease all while under very tough image quality and resolution settings and all for a price of around US$189. Couple in the fact that you get one or even two quality recent games with the package and you have a purchase that will perform right out of the box.

The current undisputed king of performance is the mighty 4870x2. But now the scales are balanced, 2 cores vs 2 cores, mano a mano. All hail the GTX295!

Due to their levels of excellence XFX have received more DriverHeaven gold awards in the last few years than any other company which is quite an achievement. Not content with being known for great Nvidia based products XFX recently announced a range of Radeon graphics cards and Intel motherboards, all of which are designed to take on the best products in their marketplace. Today we have the first of their cards on our test bench, the Radeon HD 4870 1 GB XXX which is a factory overclocked model.
