Today NVIDIA launches their GeForce 9800 GX2 dual GPU card. It comes with two G92 GPUs and uses a new cooling design where a single cooler sits in the middle and cools both GPUs. We have the card from Zotac on our testbench today which follows the reference design specification. Unlike many other publications all our testing was conducted in Windows XP because we think that's what the majority of users still plays on.

When you think of discrete graphics, your probably don't think low-end. It's very common, as with most things we can buy, for people to immediately shoot for the stars. In the video card world, this usually means discussing only the best money can buy, and this is the start of a bigger mistake. Very recently NVIDIA released their newest addition to the GeForce family: the 9600 GT. While it offers solid performance for the lower mid-range of discrete graphics, NVIDIA's 9th generation of video cards has only one offering thus far. Essentially, the latest is by far not the greatest.

NVIDIA's GeForce 9600 GT is set to give ATI's Radeon HD 3850 and 3870 a bloody good fight in the sub-£150 market.

Today NVIDIA announced their new GeForce 9 Series. The first product is the GeForce 9600 GT, based on the new G94 GPU. Zotac's AMP! Edition comes overclocked straight out of the box for a little bit extra performance. This can bring the card very close to the GeForce 8800 GT in performance.

There is a lot to like about Zotac's GeForce 8800 GT AMP! Edition - the heatsink has some subtle improvements that help to keep the temperature comparable with a standard-clocked GeForce 8800 GT at noise levels that are going to be inaudible in a chassis. It's also the fastest GeForce 8800 GT we have tested to date and, from looking around, there doesn't seem to be any 8800 GTs clocked faster than this - at best, there are equals out on the market. That maybe explains the overclocking problems we encountered.

The ZOTAC GeForce 8800 GT 512MB ZT-88TES2P-FSP graphics card features 1800MHz GDDR3 memory paired to an NVIDIA G92 GPU operating at 660MHz. Compatibility with Microsoft's DirectX 10 and Shader Model 4.0 ensures the ZOTAC GeForce 8800 GT is ready for next-generation gaming titles, and with NVIDIA's Unified Shader Architecture the GeForce 8800GT features 112 stream processors for unparalleled 3D processing capabilities. Benchmark Reviews tests this new video card against the most widely used NVIDIA product: the GeForce 8800 GTS.

With the card carrying the AMP! naming scheme it is of course overclocked out of the box, but the particularly good thing about the AMP! Edition is that it's more than just an overclocked card. With the 8800GT AMP! Edition from ZOTAC in hand we have bought in a stock clocked 8800GT from ASUS along with the Crossfire 3850 setup to see just what such a highly overclocked 8800GT can offer us.

The fastest GeForce 8800 GT to go through the labs, but is it worth £200? We tell you.

ZOTAC are still a relatively new company and we saw their first graphics card a few months ago in the shape of an 8800GTX AMP! Edition. This time around, while we're still looking at an 8800 series card it's a GTS 512MB based on the new G92 core. What we'll do today is put the stock clocked HD 3870 against the stock clocked 8800 GTS 512MB from ZOTAC and check out exactly what?s going on with these two top-end cards from NVIDIA and AMD.

Today NVIDIA announced their new GeForce 8800 GTS 512 MB which is based on the G92 GPU that has already been used on the GeForce 8800 GT. To our excitement our testing revealed that this $299 card can almost beat the much more expensive GeForce 8800 GTX while generally being quieter and less power hungry.

Zotac is one of the new manufacturers of graphics cards that have arrived to Denmark. Zotac is a new brand of NVIDIA based graphics cards that has launched this year, though, the company behind, PC Partner Group, has produced graphics cards for more than a decade. The card that we are going to have a look on in this test is their NVIDIA GeForce 8600GT Zone Edition, which has been provided for us by ClanShop.dk.

The Zotac 8600GT Zone Edition 256MB is a particular video card: the passive cooling system, the two DVI connections and the support to HDTV and HDCP make this card the ideal one for silent and multimedia-oriented systems. Besides, we tested this video card also with games, and the results are satisfying, according to the price.

The new G92 chip is a kind of revolution for its performances and its power consumption. For a price around 200-250?, this card is a direct rival of the 2900Pro. But great part of the merit is of Zotac: indeed, the performances of this 8800GT AMP! Edition are near to the Ultra's due to the increasing of frequency made by Zotac. This new 8800GT AMP! Edition puts together performances and contained power consumption, without being limited by the 256 bit bus, thanks to the on-chip optimizations. This card is an interesting alternative to the overclocked 8600GTS, and also to the superior Ultra and GTX.

The Zotac GeForce 8800 GT comes equipped with NVIDIA's latest G92 GPU. Unlike the NVIDIA reference design, Zotac's card is running at a higher clock of 660 MHz which gives this card a nice performance boost. With a price point of only $249 and performance that is close to the 8800 GTX, the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT is going to be one of the big sellers this year.

This will be the third video card that I have reviewed from Geeks.com that was built by a company that I haven't heard of, or that I wouldn't normally consider when purchasing computer hardware. I guess that I, being a fairly typical humanoid, am somewhat afraid of the unknown, and that especially goes for computer hardware.
