ASUS has an interesting board here with the Z8PE-D12X. The motherboard can take all current Intel Xeon CPUs including the recently released 56xx series that have 6 cores with HyperThreading. The inclusion of features including Flex-E, PIKE and the ability to have two workstation video cards installed is excellent. The inclusion of the ASMB3 IKVM Upgrade Kit is a definite plus on this side. Workstation boards need to balance energy usage and the Z8PE-D12X does just that with the EPU. The inclusion of onboard graphics allows the user to save money on video cards. Overall this is a very well designed motherboard for the server environment and it can hold its own in this genre. For those wanting quality and a name they can trust the new Asus Z8PE-D12X is a very solid choice.

?The Performance One series of cases from Antec have been extremely solid and have been around for quite a while now. If you go to a LAN party you are sure to see a P180, P182, or even a P183 somewhere. All of the cases offer great cooling and a lot of storage room. Today we will be looking at the ?big boy? of the Performance Once series the P193. This massive case is designed much like the P183 except it is much larger so you can fit pretty much anything inside of it! Let?s take a look at the P193 and see if it is the perfect case for you!"

?Today, ThinkComputers has the opportunity to check out AeroCool?s latest Touch LCD Fan Controller, the V12XT. The touch LCD display shows current temperatures and fan speeds in a dashboard-like display. The extra style makes it unique from other fan controllers. This peripheral would make a great addition to those two extra 5.25? empty drive bays you have. Read on further to see how well it will fill them!"

"Out of nowhere the SandForce label went from being associated with a good product that is going to cost an arm and a leg, to a great product that is not only the fastest on the market, but has a reasonable cost, too. When looking at the benchmarks we see that there really isn?t a whole lot of difference between testing with the Microsoft and Intel drivers, but it is enough to surpass Crucial?s C300 in most real world performance categories. Just like the old saying, second place is the first loser; the SF-1200 controlled products were now holding the top honors and something to get excited about. As enthusiasts we are often compelled to take the best of the best and double them to achieve higher performance. This week through next week we will see two RAID reports, the first being with the A-DATA S599 today and next week using Crucial?s RealSSD C300. Let?s recap the A-DATA S599 specifications and then get right into the testing."

It's always better to have and not need, than to need and not have. This Golden Rule applies to computer system memory as much as the other aspects in life, and having more RAM than your PC needs can only help matters. Multimedia editors require large amounts of memory to keep their encoding tasks moving at top-speed, otherwise the PC's much slower storage drive is called into play. Crucial offers the power-user a guaranteed boost to system performance, with their triple-channel 12GB DDR3 memory kit. The Crucial CT3KIT51264BA1339 UDIMM kit consists of three 4GB DDR3 modules rated for 1333MHz CL9-9-9-25-1 each. In this article, Benchmark Reviews tests the high-density RAM kit against memory big and small, fast and slow.

"Other World Computing (or OWC) is an Apple specialty store that also offers their own branded products. The company showed up on our radar when we first started seeing SandForce controlled SSDs entering the market. Even now only a small handful of the dozens of companies that are planning to offer SandForce SSDs have been able to bring them to market. OWC was immune to whatever problems other manufacturers are having and has a product on the market now, but that is only half of the story. So far we?ve heard all kinds of stories about SandForce SF-1200 controlled SSD pricing, but to date most of the costs have been well over the launch price of OWC?s Mercury Extreme Enterprise SSD. Who would have thought that one of the best SandForce values on the market would have come from a Mac specialty shop?"

"It's hardly a secret that Canon and Nikon dominate the DSLR market. Rather than beating their heads against the wall by competing directly against them, other manufacturers are zeroing in a new type of camera-one with a large imaging sensor, smaller size and interchangeable lenses so you can get the photographic benefits of a DSLR without breaking your shoulder carrying it around all day. Olympus and Panasonic have jumped into this arena and Sony is planning to join them later this year. One of the newest of these cameras is the Olympus PEN E-PL1 which uses the same 12MP chip found in the company's much larger and heavier E-30 and E-620 DSLRs. Let's see if Olympus has delivered on the dream and if you should consider it instead of a DSLR."

"By the time of the release of the final installment in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, it was a bonafide cultural establishment. No longer could book lovers stake sole claim to the characters and story; film lovers took to it with open arms, embracing the solid direction, became emotionally invested in the characters and marveled at the (still amazing) visual effects. Even the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences took to the film, awarding it 11 Oscars including Best Picture. Whilst Frodo continues his trek to the pit of Mt. Doom to destroy the One Ring, the eye of Sauron is closing in, summoning all manner of evil to thwart his goal. The twisted Gollum continues his murderous intent, leading him on a trail to certain death to once more claim the ring as his own. Weary from battle, the world of Men engage in the last stand against the Orc army amassed to ensure their extinction. The board has been set and the pieces are moving; the stakes far higher than anyone could have foreseen."

"Comparing the HTC Incredible and HTC HD2 is a bit like comparing brothers. In many ways, they're practically the same phone. They share the same mother, the same processor, and the same slab-like touch form-factor. In other ways, like the operating systems, they couldn't be more different. We won't sit here and try to compare the intangible or subjective aspects of both phones, like build quality, style and value on their respective networks, but when you get down to the meat and bones of both phones, you'll find some clear winners and losers. Here's how the HTC Incredible and HTC HD2 break down."

"Diskeeper is a well known brand in the world of file defragmentation. Their latest release, Diskeeper 2010 is designed to keep your PC in tip top shape by preventing fragmentation before it happens. Although SSDs are becoming more affordable and popular, disk based drives will be around for quite some time. While SSDs do not become fragmented, their disk based brethren do and that is where Diskeeper 2010 can be a life saver. "

"Backups are important and not long ago I looked at a product from Clickfree called the Traveler that worked well, today for review I?ve got another one from Clickfree but this one is very unique in that it works on your network but not how you might think. The Clickfree C2N Automatic Home Backup works with all of the computers on your network, but it works via USB and even wirelessly. Once you install the program called BackupLink on your computers, you can then backup any computer to the C2N from anywhere on your network, and the actual drive doesn?t have to be connected to the computer your backing up, it can be connected to any on your network. The program automatically find the C2N wherever it is on your network and starts the backup process via your network. It?s extremely simple to use, no actual networking is involved, it?s all automatic. "

Intel may have launched its X58 chipset nearly a year-and-a-half ago, but board vendors continue to come out with new product as technologies improve. This past winter, ASUS released the P6X58D Premium, a high-end offering that boasts support for both SATA 3.0 and USB 3.0, and one that just begs to be pushed hard with overclocking.
