Today OCZ have given us the chance of taking a look at one of there latest Flash drives on the market and that is the ATV Turbo. Available in a number of sizes, ranging from 2GB to 8GB, right though to an amazing 16GB version an probably a 32gb version on the way. Thus giving the consumer more space then ever to store files. And that's all, the ATV Turbo flash drives main feature is there durable and rubber case housing which OCZ claim to be 100% waterproof and shock proof, so this should be interesting to see how it performs. Today I got my hands on the ATV Turbo 4GB version.

The OCZ ATV Turbo has been a sweet drive to work with. It's performance at the 4GB level is second to none. What shocked me the most was the ATV Turbo's ability to survive extreme temperatures without any degradation to performance. From frozen to wet to dry in about 30 minutes.

Back in May we looked at the Corsair Flash Survivor GT 8GB. This was Corsair's newest flash series at the time and instead of continuing with the memory speed race, the Flash Survivor GT focused upon being very durable. In our review of the Flash Survivor GT, we had thrown it to the bottom of a pool, severely beat it with a hammer, and boiled it in water, but at the end of the day, it performed like new with barely any signs of damage. Less than a month later at Computex Taipei 2007, at the OCZ private suite we came across their ATV Turbo series. We finally have this new OCZ flash drive in our labs and have tested it out in this review.

The OCZ ATV Turbo 4GB flash drive is a no doubt a handy little device with the ability to withstand the elements and shock by it's completely rubberized exterior. If you're tough on your flash drives and need them to withstand a beating, then this flash drive is designed for you. However even if you're like me and actually take care of your computer parts, this is still a nice unit to own because you know it can take a beating if it had to, and also for it's tough looking design.

I don't know anyone nowadays who doesn't own at least one flash drive for their important documents, financial data, passwords, or family photos - to name a few. The technology has been around for several years now, but many of them lack from slow data transfer rates to shotty construction that reduces their life spans. Some users consider their flash drives to be the "life blood" of their existence, and they need their flash drive to be able to handle the rigors that every day life will throw at them. Today we have the OCZ Technology 4GB ATV Turbo USB 2.0 Flash Drive on our test bench. OCZ claims this drive can handle data transfer rates up to 35MB per second. That's insane! Let's test that claim in our review today.

USB flash memory has recently been tumbling down in price, and now you can carry around all of your important files for less than £20. That said, most budget drives hide a substantial issue; speed. If you are routinely copying large files, a slow transfer rate can mean the difference between going to the pub and staying at the office for an extra 5 minutes. A serious problem indeed. Due to the drop in price, faster drives are also available for more accessible prices featuring larger sizes too. Today I have the OCZ ATV Turbo 4GB USB drive that should be able to store your stuff and make transferring a quick job.

In America we know that excess is never enough. The technology industry provides us with portable solid-state disks that can hold every Atari 2600 cartridge ever created, and that still isn't enough. We take these little gadgets with us everywhere, and I should know as I've destroyed more USB drives than the company's Quality Control department. OCZ is here to save the day with their ATV line of Flash drives. Not only is it completely waterproof, but its squishy rubber coating makes it so impact-resistant that it actually bounces. On top of all that, this drive comes in large 4GB and 8GB capacities and utilizes dual-channel technology.

Memory maker OCZ added two new flash drives to their lineup last month; the ATV and ATV Turbo. Both drives are designed to keep your data safe even under the most extreme conditions. The rugged ATV Turbo has a rubber waterproof housing and should be pretty fast too.

OCZ says the drive is water resistant but in testing, the cap was found to come off easily. Be careful with it and you will have one of the fastest drives around. To compare to the recently reviewed corsair Flash Survivor GT HD Tach numbers showed an average read speed of 23MB/sec with an average write speed of 20.6 MB/sec. That makes the OCZ ATV Turbo significantly faster than the Corsair Flash Survivor GT.
