I have used cordless mice for years and have never found a corded mouse that I would leave on my system. This is the first one that I would even consider keeping. It responds very well and is close to the same feel that I am accustomed to.

Right between the left mouse button and the scroll wheel is a red button known as the "triple threat", which will send the same mouse click to the computer three times with a single press. The idea is that in first person shooters the OCZ Technology Equalizer will give you an advantage over other players; some people will just call it cheating.

The dog may be man's best friend, but a mouse is a gamer's best pal. The market is flooded with mice that promise high resolutions and dead-on precision in the digital battlegrounds. Every company offers something extra to attract a potential buyer, be it the adjustable weight cartridge from Logitech's G5 line, or the 'triple threat button' from OCZ Equalizer Laser Gaming Mouse, that allows the user to shoot a virtual weapon three times faster then normal. We tested the latter and its impressive range of sensitivity - from 400dpi to 2500 dpi - that can turn any lousy shot into a digital marksman.

There are so many factors to get right - form, number of buttons and the resistance they give, extra features and availability to left handed users, all of these play a part. That's even neglecting the whole wired/wireless debate that still divides this office into two viciously opposed parties who regularly come to blows. Let's face it, the mouse you use will affect everything from Minesweeper to Prey, so you may as well get it right. Thankfully, we're here to showcase some of the newest mice on the shelves so that you can be sure to steer clear of this dangerous mousetrap.

OCZ's mice are called Equalizer and feature a 2500 DPI laser sensor made by Agilent technology. The mice come in two different sizes, one aimed at gaming and one made for laptop users. One of the special features that the Equalizer has is a Triple-Threat button which should fire three shots in rapid succession, besides that the button should function as a double-click button in standard Windows applications.

The popularity of super-high performance mice aimed at gamers and hardware connoisseurs has grown exponentially, and it's Razer who are most notably responsible for much of this. So perhaps it's interesting to see one of the leaders responsible for the birth of overclockable memory, OCZ, have a stab at the buzz peripheral of the moment - the revered 'gaming' mouse.
