While adding storage devices inside the system is good, there is a limit to the amount of space inside a case, and internal connectors are finite. External storage thanks to USB, Firewire and e.SATA makes perfect sense, as the amount of devices you can connect is increased as well as moving the storage drive outside the case, in turn providing better PC cooling. Today we are looking at a full storage solution from Seagate called the Freeagent Pro. How well does this baby stack up? Let's have a look.

One of the first things that you see once you open the box containing the Seagate FreeAgent Pro 750GB external hard drive is the instructions with the words "this won't take long" printed on the front. Seagate knows how to live up to that promise too, all you need to do is plug the Seagate FreeAgent Pro 750GB external hard drive into the AC outlet then plug it into your PC via one of the trio of connection options including USB 2.0, e-SATA and FireWire 400.

The five year warranty is another key selling point on the FreeAgent Pro. Backups can be such a chore. For the novice computer user, they're a maze of which folders and backup schemes to pick from. For geeks, they can be slow, inefficient, and sometimes even have the nerve to rely on our memory to press a button! Rather than listen to users scream the proverbial "NOOOOOOOOOO", Seagate has ramped up the speeds and warranty on their latest external drive, the FreeAgent Pro, and coupled it with Memeo's powerful yet intuitive backup software. Benchmarks and software analysis after the jump.
