Hardcore overclockers and gamers do not only have to worry about the temperature of their CPU, but also the temperature of their video cards. Overclocking a video card usually has a much larger impact on game frame rates than overclocking a processor. That said, there is also another point of view when it comes to gaming and has nothing to do with overclocking, many people like to enjoy some casual gaming with their HTPC, or simply in a quiet environment. Buying a high end video card usually leaves these people frustrated, as the "reference" coolers generate a lot of noise in order to keep them cool enough. So aftermarket VGA coolers easily come into mind. Today we will take a look at a VGA cooler from a Korean company, Zerotherm, the GX815. The GX815 boasts not only exceptional performance but low noise as well. Too good to be true? We will soon find out.

Way back in October we took a look at the BFT90 CPU cooler from ZEROtherm. It proved to be a very effective cooler and user friendly. Today we will be looking at another product from ZEROtherm, this time it's a GPU cooler. The GX815 Gamer Edition VGA cooler features a heatpipe design, built-in thermal sensor, and special SLI/Crossfire mounting hardware. Let's take a look and see if ZEROtherm does as good of a job on their GPU coolers as they do on their CPU coolers.

Sitting down at a computer to play several hours of your favorite game will put your video card through the paces and this can cause performance drops as the card heats up. ZEROtherm has sent me a set of their GX815 Gamer Edition VGA coolers to test on my XFX 7900 GS cards in SLI.

ZEROtherm's new GS815 Gamer Edition VGA cooler is a great product that has good performance, is very quiet, easily installed and looks good to boot. It's compact size and quiet operation make it a very attractive solution for gamers and HTPC enthusiasts alike. The included ramsinks and mounting options only serve to sweeten the deal, but its best feature may be its modest price.
