We saw MSI mix it up just the other week with the 9600GT by overclocking it and going down the aftermarket cooler route. Aesthetically speaking, the card really didn't do a lot for us, but as we dived deeper into the testing of the card we became pleasantly surprised by the performance the cooler offered. The latest 9600GT variant from MSI sports the same cooler along with an extra 512MB of GDDR3, giving us a grand total of 1GB. The card also carries with it the same overclock we saw on the 512MB model which should aid in getting some extra performance over stock clocked offerings.

Missing from our recent GeForce 9600 GT shootout is the familiar MSI brand. Here to remedy this situation, we have the overclocked MSI N9600GT-T2D512-OC, which comes in a rather gaudy red. Can it match the other GeForce 9600 GT competitors in the mid-range segment?

The latest company to come to the 9600GT parade is MSI, and like most other cards we've looked at they've decided to move away from the stock cooler and use their own design. They also figure if they're going to do that, they may as well bump up the speed of the card and see what it's capable of. I feel like we've looked at so many 9600GT cards in such a short period of time that there isn't all that much to say here. The 9600GT has quickly become a popular little offering thanks to its performance not being like that of normal x600GT offerings from NVIDIA in the past.
