The new Panasonic 3-CCD HDR-SX5 is a hybrid in that it records HD to SD memory cards or 3-inch blank DVDs.

Panasonic's HDC-SX5 hybrid camcorder has plenty of commendable qualities. The lack of microphone input and headphone output reduce its usefulness for more serious video making, but it offers good image quality in adequate lighting, and there are some useful manual controls on offer. We're not entirely convinced by the hybrid recording format because of DVD's limited capacity, and we're much more in favour of the HDC-SX5?s SDHC capabilities.
