Lost Planet has an audience, there's no doubt about that and that audience will no doubt enjoy every moment they spend with Wayne and Gale (really, new names please), but for the majority of gamers Lost Planet just doesn't warrant the full retail price tag or the hassle of downloading and setting up a Steam account if you don't already have one. Find it again in a few months when the price is down to a tenner and reconsider it then.

A fair amount of effort has been directed at this game when it comes to its visuals, but can it offer a decent PC gaming experience being a console port?

Lost Planet: Extreme Condition for the PC is most definitely worth a look, even if you've already played the Xbox360 version. Capcom chose the right game to port over to DirectX10 to get the DX10 games rolling, and chose one that will hopefully keep gamers going until the next DX10 games release here in the next few months. This is leaps and bounds better than the Halo 2 port that requires Windows Vista, but doesn't even take advantage of DX10 at all. The demo is available on Steam and many other places on the internet, but I don't feel it really does the game justice. For the $40 price tag, this game is probably the best value for your money you're going to get as a shooter fan. Sure, this game isn't realistic like other shooters, but does every game now have to try to obey the exact laws of physics or reality in order to be fun?

Lost Planet: Extreme Condition is an intense third person shooter that overall is a very amusing game. What the game lacks in story it more then makes up for in the actual gameplay. The action is constant and the situations are never the same. Between the array of weapons and the continual bombardment of enemies, you will find no shortage of carnage. Combine that with the stunning visual displays and you have yourself a game you are sure to enjoy. I do however recommend this game as a rental, due to the fact the campaign is short and while the online gaming is fun, it can not compete with many of our current online favorites.
