When you think of Noctua, you generally think of cooling. After all, these folks have been in the business of making cooling solutions for quite some time. Taking this into consideration, it should come as no surprise to see this Austrian company getting involved in the TIM race. After all, what good is a high-end cooler without a quality material to work as an intermediary? Of course, getting into the middle of a heated market of thermal interface material could prove a challenge. There have been many newcomers hitting the streets with their own special goop and most have sent the vaunted Arctic Silver compound to the curb, so we will need to see if the cooling specialists at Noctua can keep up, or even surpass, the other guys.

Noctua has been known for serving up one of the best coolers on the market. I am sure most of us have heard of the NH-U12P. It was one of the top coolers on every website's list. And coupled with their newest fan the NF-P12 there aren't too many coolers that can come close. Now take this cooler and fan and throw in the NT-H1 and you have everything you need to cool that new processor. So do we have another compound that is capable of taking down the old king? We will find out soon.

I seem to be testing a lot of thermal pastes lately, so it will be nice when I have a roundup of the major performers (which after today should be most of them!) The NT-H1 paste from Noctua is a relatively new entry to the thermal paste market, so let's take a look Noctua's offering to the market.

Noctua recently released their new NT-H1 thermal compound. This new thermal interface material is designed to give maximum performance while being simple to use. Best of all, it is ready to use immediately and does not require a "burn-in" time like the other manufacturer's products. With a long storage life, long-term stability on the CPU, being non-conductive and being suitable for compressor cooling, this thermal compound seems to have it all.
