Nvidia's 6800GT was their most popular GPU based on the NV40 architecture and a few weeks back, nVidia replaced it with the NV42 based 6800GS. Although nVidia has cut the number of pixel pipelines from 16 to 12 and Vertex Shaders from 6 to 5, the increased efficiency in the architecture allowed them to increase the clock speed from 350MHz to 425MHz.
