Have a huge chassis? Need a huge CPU cooler? Well, Cooler Master has just what you need, in the form of the TEC-based V10. This thing is massive - its almost three CPU coolers in one - but it cools better than any other air cooler we've used in the past, and it even matches our previous (and much more expensive) water-cooling setup.

Cooler Master's V10 is impressive in many respects. Size and stature are reassuringly large, but fitment may be an issue for some motherboards and cases. The engineering innovation and design are quite nice, as is the fit and finish. Unfortunately, the high cost and potentially troublesome installation leave something to be desired. Frankly, there are better performing coolers out there that are half the price, easier to install and perform just as well.

I have to say that I really like the Cooler Master V10 CPU Cooler. Cooler Master has been hard at work on it for over a year and it looks like all that hard work paid off. Yes it is big, yes it is bulky, but that and the ability to cool so well are what make this thing awesome. Even though you may not get Megan Fox under your side panel checking it out, I'm sure that you'll have plenty of friends asking you about your new CPU cooler...

Cooler Master's V10 CPU cooler is a beast of a unit that is big, brash, and bold in its styling and performance claims, boasting thermoelectric-assisted (TEC/Peltier) air cooling for today's hottest Quad Core CPUs. We'll pit the V10 against another top air cooling competitor on a highly overclocked Core i7 920 CPU that?s juiced up to see if the Peltier can get the job done or get left in the dust.

The V10 offers many more features than the V8. The first would be the additional capabilities of cooling your ram while taking care of the CPU. Sitting atop a second set of aluminum fins is a 120mm cooling fan when placed properly blows right over your DIMM slots. We saw this in the Gemini cooler as well. This kind of cooler eliminates the need to deal with extra fans for ram cooling. Yet the most beneficial feature of the V10, if used right, is the T.E.C. base. With the right amount of heat to activate the thermal electric plate that is attached to the base of the cooler, the V10 is posed to offer a new level of performance and cooling and is capable of taming the most voltage hungry processor.

But what will come as a surprise to most people is the direction Cooler Master opted to go with the V10. While externally it appears very similar to the air cooler on display at the CES booth, the original consisted mainly of a V8 cooler with an extra bank of fins and a second 120mm fan. But that's not the version we have received for review... oh no. A close look at the product packaging reveals the V10's trump card, 200W HYBRID TEC cooling.
