Keeping up with our recent fascination with touchscreen devices, the Samsung YP-P2 gets rid of most of its physical controls in favor of a user interface that relies almost exclusively on its large touchscreen display. While it may not necessarily be able to compete against the iPod touch, the Samsung P2 multimedia player still comes with a very healthy smattering of features.

The Samsung P2 really delivers in a small package; it is very attractive, jam-packed with nifty features, as well as a very intuitive interface. There were very few problems when using this audio player on a daily basis, and the P2 is Bluetooth ready, a function that the iTouch lacks. Although the P2 does not have WiFi support to browse the web, the price difference between the iTouch and the P2 is enough to drive customers towards the P2.

An MP3 player with touch screen technology, the Samsung YP-P2 is a worthy contender to the iPod touch. Although we've some reservations about the responsiveness of the touch screen, the P2 is still excellent in its own way.

The YP-P2 does have some niggles, but we still like it. It's attractive, well-built, easy to use, stuffed with features - including Bluetooth - and has superb sound quality and a wonderful screen. In its 8GB guise it is a little more expensive than the nano, but if you've fallen in love with the touchscreen way of doing things and just can't bring yourself to pay for the iPod Touch, why not go for a YP-P2? It doesn't have Wi-Fi, but it's a cheaper, slimmer and more compact alternative.
