With the introduction of the Z-Machine GT1000 chassis, Zalman has produced a worthy successor to their earlier Fatal1ty offering. I liked the Fatal1ty a lot; I like the Z-Machine a lot more. The GT1000 is better looking, easier to work in, has more hard drive space and comes in two color options. Cooling performance is just as good, if not better, than the original and the drive mounting solutions are both simple and elegantly executed.

The GT1000 comes in two different colors: titanium and black. The case features two 92mm intake fans in the front and one 120mm rear exhaust fan. The titanium model features blue LED fans, and the black one sports red LED fans. We have the black model on our bench today, and a quick glance reveals that this case has a lot of potential. Head on over to the site and take a look...

Earlier this year we reviewed Zalman's FZ-CE1 Fatal1ty case. Although we loved the build quality and design, having "Fatal1ty" etched on every flat surface really soured us on an otherwise stellar case. Zalman listened, and has introduced the Z-Machine GT1000, an enthusiast-level chassis that will continue to be cool long after "Fatal1ty" is a creepy, balding, unemployed 40-year-old.

I very seldom find myself in awe of any product design these days, since most manufacturers are more willing to produce a good product that can be mass produced than a truly great product requiring extensive effort. It doesn't happen often, but I have recently discovered the Zalman Z-Machine GT1000, a beautiful black high-end gaming mid-tower ATX computer case that has refined itself to the point of prestige. Hardware enthusiasts and hardcore gamers will delight in this fine chassis, and Benchmark Reviews offers you something you are not likely to find again for some time: innovation.

Zalman is not normally known for their cases, but they are looking to please gamers everywhere with their Z-Machine GT1000. With it's black aluminum frame, the case is built like a tank. But is it worth your $400?

The case itself though is even more impressive than our initial impressions lead us to believe. Not only does it look good to the eye, but the build quality is through the roof thanks to some thick, removable aluminium panels and the tight fit of the individual components. The insides of the case are good too, providing extra room for storage addicts and a motherboard panel that can be completely detached from the main body. There are some weak points, such as the lack of cushioning on the doors and an absent PSU shelf which puts too much weight on the supporting screws, but it's obvious that a lot of thought has been put into the design and, again, the sturdy quality of the case compensates for the handful of oversights.

Well, a while ago Zalman hit it big with the Fatality case that we had the great pleasure of reviewing. The case was damn good looking and was made as strong as any case I have ever seen before. Today we have one of their newest cases based on the Fatality unit but with some much needed improvements. The Z-Machine GT1000 advertises less and actually gives more than the Fatality case. If you haven't already done so read the article to see what we are talking about here.
