So let's say a big sorry to Crackdown and thank the heavens above that it has appeared. It isn't profound, particularly deep or all that revolutionary, but it never fails to entertain in the most wonderful, big-hearted way. For me, that makes it the first must-have 360 game of the year.

It's been five years in the making. Hundreds of thousands of man hours have gone into its development. Millions of words have already been written about it. Some have already written it off, others can't wait to get their hands on a copy. Finally it's here. This is the latest episode in the Microsoft soap opera. This is Windows Vista. Has it been worth the wait?

Without considering the gaming advantages of Vista, it's clear to us that the new MS OS is worth the asking price - providing you can pick up an OEM copy. Full-version Vista is best saved for a) those who don't mind forking out over hundreds while only getting Home Premium and b) those who buy with new systems. Whether you choose 64-bit or 32-bit Vista will ultimately come down to how far ahead you want to push. Yes, 64-bit is more secure and is a 'cleaner' operating system, with less backwards compatibility and more headroom for the future - especially if you're using more modern hardware. However, 32-bit is the smoother upgrade for most people, and is probably the one we would recommend to almost everyone.

Although it's not as wireless as its name would suggest, this wheel still offers a distinct lack of cables draping from your console to your sofa. Add to this superb design and build quality, coupled with the best force feedback action I've felt and you've got a great virtual driver's tool. If you?re serious about driving games and are already counting down the days to the release of Forza 2, you should seriously consider one of these.

Razer and Microsoft have been known to produce some of the best gaming mice on the market. Not long ago the two competitors teamed up to create a new gaming mouse, the Microsoft Habu. This newcomer to the mouse market is of course packed with the latest technology that the two companies came up with. The design of the mouse is much like the old Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0, but you get some unique new features that only the Habu has.

The HD DVD drive is designed to stand next to the Xbox 360 if it's positioned upright, or sit on top of it if your console is laid flat. The HD DVD drive matches the finish of the X360 perfectly, so despite being a separate unit it's still aesthetically pleasing. The drive requires an external power supply which comes in the box, but thankfully it's far, far smaller than the console's gargantuan power brick.

You've heard the hype. You've seen the trailers and commercials. Of all the games to come out this year for the Xbox 360, Gears of War could very well be the "Killer App". For many, it's the one game that has decided whether they wait in line for a PS3 or a Wii. Was it all it promised to be and more? Check out the review...

All of the developers we have spoken to about DirectX 10 have greeted it with open arms. Many of those developers are working towards either porting an existing game to DirectX 10 or are in the process of creating a new game using the new API and acknowledge that the lower overheads associated with many heavily used functions will allow them to create scenes with more visual complexity and richness. Both AMD?s and NVIDIA's developer relations teams are working with games developers to ensure that they have the necessary tools to make efficient use of DirectX 10's capabilities.
