Noctua's NH-U12F CPU cooler is a high-performance heatsink that uses eight heatpipes to get the heat off your processor. The included fan is of the 120 mm variant and is fairly quiet. If you need to reduce the fan noise even more you can use the included Ultra Low Noise Adapter which makes the fan almost inaudible.

Case fans come in lots of sizes and varieties. Today I'm taking a look at two case fans from Noctua. While some fans are designed to be as flashy as possible, these fans from Noctua were engineered to be as quiet as possible. Some of you may already be familiar with Noctua, they recently launched a couple of very successful silent processor coolers but they also have case fans and chipset coolers. Noctua is an European company, they have their headquarters in Austria and they work closely together with the Austrian Institute of Heat Transmission and Fan Technology to develop high-end sound-optimised cooling products.

After chatting with the Noctua rep at Channel Expo, we managed to get our hands on the Noctua NC-U6; a rather excessive chipset cooler. With 29 aluminium fins, and 2 dual heatpipes, this should give you a nice drop in temperature, and being passive, a drop in noise too.

Looking through the past, we didn't forget about Noctua's traditional high quality and the NC-U6 noiseless cooler, featuring good performances and easy-of-use, didn't disappoint our expectation. The reached level of machining is comparable to almost every cpu-cooler in the market and the soldered joints optimize heat transfer between fins and heatpipes. Moreover, the new design of NC-U6 clips enlarges its compatibily with an extremely wide range of mainboards at the affordable price of about 25E, making it a dangerous enemy for every other chipset cooler

Unless you want to play Flight Simulator without a sound card and a set of speakers, chances are that you want to make your computer as silent as possible. In the past few years, this emphasis has already been quite strong -- and manufacturers are springing out of everywhere claiming to construct silent components for your system. Those who have lately developed a strong reputation in this industry is Austria-based company Noctua -- creating mainly fans and heatsinks for the silent computer. Today, we had the opportunity to review the Noctua NF-R8, NF-S12-800, and NF-S12-1200 case fans. Do they serve their primary goal of being a product for the quiet PC enthusiast? Let's have a good look over it today in this article.

The NH-U12F is a newer version of the NH-U12, which will accept up to two 120MM cooling fans. This cooler can be rotated 90 degrees on any socket for proper alignment. The older version (NH-U12) received over 100 awards so lets see how the new version holds up.

Maybe the most exciting component in your system is your case fan, probably not. Though, one would hardly argue against the fact that a computer case fan is the most practical component for removing hot air from a system and renewing it with fresh cool air. An annoying side effect of using fans is their noise level. This is why companies like Noctua in Austria are designing extremely quiet fan technology.

A product that does what it says it will always impresses me. While the cooling performance of Noctua's NC-U6 is what the end user ultimately wants in a product like this, one can't ignore the other things that it brings to the table. The simple, clever and effective mounting solutions just make this cooler even more impressive.

Noctua made quite a splash with their high end NH-U series of CPU heatsink, delivering high performance at low noise levels, this miniature tower version fits on your northbridge and is passively cooled for total silence. Can it keep a hot nForce4 SLI chipset from frying, let's find out.

Noctua continues to impress with the cooling products they have sent to Bigbruin.com for review. The NF-S12 and NF-R8 fans provided the cooling performance needed, the low noise operation wanted, and many quality touches that might not be expected.

Nocuta is a newcomer to Phoronix, so when they had first asked us to look at a couple fans we were a bit hesitant. In the past year, the only cooling fans we had reviewed were the Sytrin KuFormula SFFD120 and the Enermax Marathon Enlobal Fan, which were both unique products compared to a traditional computer case fan. Ultimately, we decided to accept Noctua's invitation to try out the NF-S12 and NF-R8 fans, and in this review you will find out why.

For the most part case cooling fans have been pretty consistent in design. Well Noctua is about to show us that case fans can be improved. The Noctua case fans incorporate several changes from the standard case fans on the market. We will be looking at the NF-R8 (80MM), NF-S12-800 (120MM / 800RPM), and the NF-S12-1200 (120MM / 1200RPM) fans.

I was impressed with the performance and despite a slightly awkward installation process, the Noctua NC-U6 is easily my favorite chipset cooler that I have looked at thus far. The Noctua NC-U6 cools incredibly well without the use of a fan, mounts extremely securely to the chipset, has a relatively small footprint for the its abilities, and is very well priced to boot. Anyone looking to improve cooling and/or eliminate noise from their system should keep the Noctua NC-U6 near the top of their shopping list.
