The 2.4" 320x240(QVGA) 262,000 colour screen is absolutely glorious. The K800i's screen is good but for me the N73 edges it on brightness and clarity. Nokia seemed to take forever to get with the program on the screen front but when they get it right they seem to get it very right.

What?s the first thing you look for in a mobile phone? Portability? Good call quality? Good battery life? Great music playback? You?ll find some of these in Nokia?s N93, but not all. Battery life is only average and the N93 is not particularly portable.

As a phone the 6280 performs solidly. The revised menus are easy to follow and responsive to use. You can actually operate the phone's basic functions with no SIM card installed and see the video call function even if no 3G SIM is used, though for obvious reasons you can't actually make a video call.

Connectivity-wise, the E61 has it all. It's a quad band phone that also features 3G support along with 802.11b/g WiFi and Bluetooth. This makes the E61 one of the most connected devices that I've come across- right up there with the JasJar by i-mate. However, Nokia adds an exceptional functionality on the E61 that I have yet to see on a mobile phone and that is allowing supposedly seamless transition between the different types of networks...

Cell phones that double as cameras are the James Carville/Mary Matalin of the tech world, a mismatched marriage that seems to work. But thanks to poor ergonomics, plastic lenses, and low resolution chips, cell cams aren't good for much more than casual snaps in bright light. Nokia has taken a couple of steps in the right direction toward a true merging of the two disparate gadgets with its N90...

The N90 is a tri-band GSM and 3G handset, but its 3G capability is not the headline feature. That accolade goes to the same feature that accounts for the N90's size - the camera lens. Nokia proudly announced at launch that the N90 would feature digital optics courtesy of Carl Zeiss, including autofocus, 20x digital zoom, and two megapixel image capture, as well as a macro mode for close-up shots...

The Nokia 6111 offers a long-awaited improvement of Nokia's user interface, as well as a well-performing Megapixel camera and EDGE support for high speed data transfers - all in a slightly chubby yet unmistakably small slider form factor. Unfortunately, the handset's display and battery life follow said form factor in not being state of the art - still, the Nokia 6111 should be considered a good buy for people looking for a stable and small mid-range handset...

You might have thought that Nokia would have taken the opportunity to pack even its more basic smart phone with features in a bid to keep up with the mobile Joneses, but far from it. If you're after designer chic you won't get it here. If you want something small and light go buy a Razr. If you want to take pictures buy a digital camera. The 9300 is unashamedly a business tool and concentrates on that to the exclusion of all else. An admirable approach, but in some respects Nokia has taken it a little too far with the 9300. There's no vibrate function, for instance, a feature you'll miss in the office and meetings and when you've got the phone stashed deep inside a pocket...

Enter the Nokia 6822, which looks just like a normal mobile phone at first glance - it fits nicely in your pocket and it even has a built in camera. Upon closer inspection however, you realise that it is more than just a standard phone, as it has a built-in BlackBerry client and it even has a full QWERTY keyboard...

The handset is a standard 2.5G phone with Tri-band coverage at 900, 1800 and 1900 frequencies. It supports GPRS, but there's no 3G shenanigans going on here. As such it makes sense that there's only a single camera on the back. This has a resolution of 1.2Megapixel count rather than the now more common 1.3Megapixel...

Yet another fashion entry from Nokia, the Nokia 8800 offers a luxurious alternative to ye olde chatterbox. Its stainless steel cover and sliding mechanism ooze of quality and style, with a high-resolution screen topping off an excellent first impression. Its 0.5 Megapixel camera and digital music player are both letdowns, but the inclusion of Bluetooth and EDGE should place the 8800 firmly in the sights of those who fancy exclusivity mixed with good connectivity - and don't mind the so-so battery life...

The Nokia 6230i is a very welcome upgrade of the Nokia 6230, as the 6230i offers both an improved display and a 1.3 megapixel camera snapping stills at high quality. Au contraire, we find a mediocre navigational button, as well as audio quality which does not perform on par with other high-end handsets where more of an emphasis has been placed on audio playback. The Nokia 6230i comes recommended for people wanting a classic Nokia handset, offering a good battery life, great user interface and EDGE as well as Bluetooth connectivity.

Nokia's 7710 is quite possibly the oddest handsets on the market today. It doesn't have a number pad, and it looks more like a games console than a phone. This is all part and parcel of the bigger picture with this device, though - it is a true hybrid, and if my days of evaluation tell me nothing else, they shout loud and clear that any company wanting to offer the best of all possible worlds needs to think very carefully indeed about its approach - many times has such a concept been tried without success...

If video calling or high-speed data truly is a must, it would be wise to consider the Nokia 6630 and 6680 as ones primary options. If not, the Nokia 6681 will serve you well with its good ergonomics, high-quality screen, excellent connectivity and broad feature set. Business users should beware of its poor synchronization support, however, and we must frankly admit that Nokia have produced sexier looking smartphones - but apart from this, the 6681 comes highly recommended.

As for the connection quality the device is a typical representative of Nokia smartphones with no serious problems. As compared with the Nokia 6680 the phone gained some significant advantages. Particularly, a voice recognition independent from the pronunciation appeared, no preliminary bookmarks are necessary. The screen is one of the best on the market and the best in its class. The external screen is the best in its class considering all the characteristics...
